Pawtuxet Valley Preservation and Historical Society Cemetery Group Volunteers dedicated to the preservation and restoration of cemeteries within Coventry and West Warwick Rhode Island.

On Tuesday, May 12 at 10:00 am, we will gather at Maple Root Cemetery on Harkney Hill Road in Coventry to flag veterans' graves. All are welcome to join. Parking is available in the Maple Root Baptist Church parking lot across from the cemetery, within the cemetery, or in the adjacent Plainland Cemetery. After the flagging, take some time to explore the cemetery's historic gravestones, which range from early crudely carved fieldstones to slate, marble, and granite, including a notable 'zinkie' monument.

PVPHS Cemetery Group has made major strides in restoration work at WW07 Old Baptist Cem at cor of Church and Cowessett avenues...back in early 1800s the abutting resid was a church leaving approx 30 burials behind...kudos to Bob Chorney...Brian Giot...Lucille Girard...Angela...and Julie Nathanson. After yrs of restoring Coventry RI lots we have pushed into completing the much abandoned ones in nearby West Warwick!
