Many people have asked how my opponent and I differ. We are both Republicans. But there is a fundamental difference in who we answer to and how we approach public service.

My campaign has been built from the ground up by people. I did not seek political endorsements (even declined some).

This campaign has been powered by volunteers spending countless hours knocking doors, making phone calls, and sending texts because they believe in our vision for Utah.

The overwhelming majority of my support comes from Utahns. My campaign funding comes primarily from individuals and Utah-based organizations that share a commitment to serving our communities. Aside from a few small contributions from friends and family with Utah ties who now live elsewhere, my support is local and rooted in the people of this state.

My opponent has relied heavily on political endorsements, organized political interests, and significant support from out-of-state donors and legislative PACs. Those groups have one primary goal: maintaining and expanding the power of the political establishment.

That difference reflects a larger contrast in our campaigns. Throughout my career in law enforcement and public service, I have focused on serving the people of Utah, not political institutions.

For more than 20 years, I have worked on legislation from every angle. I've helped write bill language, testified as an expert, built broad legislative support, and worked to implement laws after they were passed. I've seen firsthand what happens when legislation is practical, and what happens when it isn't. I've dealt with the real-world consequences of both funded and unfunded mandates, good bills and bad bills.

I understand not only how laws are passed, but how they affect the people who must live under them.

This election comes down to a simple question:

Should elected officials be accountable to the people or to the political system that keeps them in power?

One campaign is powered by citizens, volunteers, and local support.

The other is powered by political influence and institutional power.

That is the difference, and that is why I am running.
