African Artists' Community Development Project (AACDP)

African Artists' Community Development Project (AACDP) The AACDP works to empower Zambian women and children with disabilities through income projects, educational grants.

We also support the Mama Bakhita Cheshire Home in Livingstone, Zambia which provides free services to these children and their families. We raise money for our Zambian income projects, educational sponsorships, a communal farm and support of the Mama Bakhita Center for disabled children by purchasing African crafts from the artisans themselves and selling them in the US. In this way we support the

artisans' families, helping local economies two ways. Besides our own projects, we also support local NGOs in Africa, like M'Pekala whose rural women are learning to make sisal bags for much needed income to send their girl children to school.

The African Artists Community Development Project raised almost $10,000 on GlobalGiving’s Giving Tuesday campaign and we are over the moon. Warm thank yous to those kind donors who made a new schoolbus a reality for the Mama Bakhita Chesh*te Home in Livingstone, Zambia. The home serves children with severe disabilities providing education, physical therapy,
meals and medical references.

The AACDP will continue to fundraise to renovate the buildings which are in disrepair because of the poor economy in Zambia and lack of sustaining income. The Home’s services are free for the families they serve, but regular income has never been developed. It is a cause worth trying to save.

Check out our website.

Thank you kindly and stay blessed, as they say in Zambia.

Did you know that 15% of Zambians are people with disabilities? The Franciscan Sisters at the Mama Bakhita Cheshire Home in Livingstone, Zambia provide essential physical therapy and education for families, challenging myths and fostering acceptance. But the school needs serious repair in a time when Zambia's economy is suffering. US aid is defunct. They need $ now to continue supporting children with no other options. https://wix.to/tLyieaf

Thank you to all the wonderful people who pitched in to buy a desperately needed incubator for premature babies born in a tiny rural hospital in Zambia. When my longtime friend Sister Agness Daka wrote to me distressed by the number of premies being born due to inadequate nutrition due to drought and economic hardship, she asked if we could help. Our call to action went out this morning at 9am and at 11am I was astounded to discover $3600, the price of an incubator, in our Paypal account!! How wonderful to know that you care about these people striving to survive. I am full of gratitude.
