It is with great sadness that the Lake Erie Chapter announces the passing of long‑time member Rusty Hardiman.

Rusty carried a wealth of fly‑fishing knowledge and was always willing to share it with others. Though quiet and reserved, he had a remarkable ability to brighten any moment with a quick joke or two. His presence, kindness, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

We invite friends, family, and fellow members to join us tomorrow, Friday, August 21 at 2:00 PM, for a Celebration of Life in Rusty’s honor.

The Fly Fishers International – Lake Erie Chapter mourns the loss of Gerald “Jerry” Koch (April 11, 1955 – July 12, 2026).

Jerry was more than our Sergeant‑at‑Arms—he was a mentor, a friend, and a steady presence whose passion for the water touched everyone who knew him.

Jerry mastered every style of fishing and shared his knowledge with generosity and patience.

He was loved throughout the fishing community for his kindness, his wisdom, and the way he made every outing feel meaningful.

His legacy will live on in every cast, every current, and every moment we spend on the water.

Until we fish again—tight lines, Jerry.

Jerry’s family will be handling his funeral arrangements. At this time, they have asked that donations be made in his honor to the Fly Fishers International – Lake Erie Chapter.
