Hey Polk County 📣 I had a great site visit at Rattlesnake Butte recently with our partners. After a few years of oak habitat restoration, we will finally be reintroducing fire 🔥 to this landscape with a prescribed burn in fall 2023. This site was historically maintained by the Kalapuya and their fire practices; returning cultural burning to this site is important to the Tribe for cultural connections to place and for long-term, holistic habitat maintenance 🌳.

Thank you to our funders & partners including the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, Long Tom Watshed Council, Ecostudies Institute, Oregon Department of Forestry, US Fish & Wildlife Service, and Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. Conservation is a team effort requiring strong partnerships. 🌱
