Register now for the 27th running of Walter's Run and support the Parkway community between on December 12, 2021. Formerly knowns as the Santa Scamper, Walter's Run is named in honor of Walter Burgess, who passed away suddenly in 2003 at the age of 40. Burgess was an active member of the Parkway Running Club. His favorite charity was Globe Santa, the Boston Globe's annual program which provides pr

esents during the holiday season to underprivileged children in the Boston area. Proceeds from the race go to Globe Santa, as well as the YMCA of Greater Boston's Reach Out campaign, which provides financial assistance to families in need so that their children may access the YMCA's programs. Walter's Run also offers a scholarship, named in honor of Walter Burgess, to send younger runners to a local summer Running Camp.

Walter’s Run was created to honor the legacy of Walter Burgess a friend, running partner, and community supporter whose kindness and dedication continue to inspire us.

This year, under the motto “WE Run Inspired,” we also celebrate another Parkway Running Club legend, Eddie Hastings. Like Walter, Eddie was a friend to all and devoted himself to serving others. His generosity and leadership helped connect the club to a new generation of runners. Together, we proudly carry their legacies forward as WE run.
