Project REACH (Realizing an Effective Alliance for Community Hope) seeks to create an alliance across geographic and socio-economic divides in greater Washington to support programming in DC wards 7&8 and PG County. Unfortunately, despite an interest among donors in funding and supporting causes closer to home, community-led projects in Wards 7 and 8 and PG County often go unnoticed and, as a res
ult, are under-resourced. Every month a team of leaders in the DC community will vet and highlight up to five “projects of the month.” These projects will be led by and seek to benefit residents of Wards 7 and 8 and PG County, and receive fundraising-related training and technical assistance from the campaign’s team. The team will also publicize the projects across the greater Washington, DC community and nationwide to help raise the profile of projects and raise funds. HOW WE SELECT OUR “PROJECTS OF THE MONTH”
Simple. Any project we consider must be intended to benefit primarily residents in Wards 7 or 8 or PG county. The project must also be developed or executed primarily by a resident of Wards 7 or 8 or PG county. Finally, the project must not be a recipient of any other funding (such as grants from another source), though the beneficiary may be such a recipient. For example, a family raising funds for a medical procedure could be a recipient of rent assistance and still be eligible for selection, but could not be a recipient of separate financial assistance from their masjid on the specific medical procedure. Our team will vet and select projects for our national fundraising audience, with the hopes of assisting worthwhile projects with their fundraising goals.
