You have an incredible opportunity to make a lasting impact on America’s future by standing with Kappa Delta Sorority to promote the well-being of children in Mississippi and across the country. On March 22, 2020, the Kappa Delta chapter at Mississippi State University will host its 2nd annual Shamrock Classic Golf Tournament to raise money for the prevention of child abuse through Sally Kate Winter Children’s Home and Prevent Child Abuse America. This year, we will be continuing our 2-Man Scramble Golf Tournament, located at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point.
Most children are raised in stable, nurturing environments. Unfortunately, children are sometimes exposed to extreme stress, such as child abuse and neglect, which undermines their development. Last year alone, more than 27,000 cases of child abuse were reported in our state. Nationally, there are approximately 681,000 confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect (according to Child Protective Services, 2011).
But this is where you come in. We all play a role in the healthy development of children and their families. You can make a difference by being a sponsor for the Shamrock Classic, participating in the golf tournament, or by simply donating any amount you wish to contribute.
Our goal is to raise $30,000 for the prevention of child abuse. The majority of the event proceeds – 80 percent – will stay in our community to fund the incredible work being done by Sally Kate Winters Children’s Home. The remaining 20 percent will go to Prevent Child Abuse America, the leading advocate for preventing child abuse and neglect among our nation’s children since 1972. Since adopting child abuse prevention as a national philanthropy in 1983, Kappa Delta has raised more than $15 million nationally for this important cause. With your help, we can continue to make an impact on the lives of children in our community and nationwide.
Your donation is more than just an investment in America’s future. It’s also an opportunity to increase your visibility on campus and in the community. All of our sponsors will be recognized at the event and in all printed materials that are distributed. We look forward to working with you to prevent child abuse.
Sincerely,
Vice President-Community Service – Erin Bailey
Delta Omega Chapter of Kappa Delta
P.S. Please note that donations are not tax-deductible.
