Avery Goes Gold

Avery Goes Gold Now 17, I want to give back by creating a more welcoming, inspiring and fun.

For my Gold Award project, I’m working to revitalize the teen room at our local Boys and Girls Club, a place that’s been like a second home to me since I was 7.

AFTER ✨💙

Looking at these pictures is honestly kind of unreal.

After a lot of planning, painting, problem solving, and long days, seeing the room start to come together makes me really proud. My goal was to create a space where teens could relax, have fun, and feel excited to be here.

It’s not completely finished yet — there is more to come in the near future — but seeing the difference already makes all of the hard work worth it.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible and believed in my project.

BEFORE 💙

When I picked the teen room for my Girl Scout Gold Award project, I knew it needed some updates, but I also knew how much this space means to kids.

I grew up coming here, and this place has always felt like a second home. Looking at these before pictures reminds me that every project starts somewhere.

This was the beginning.

Hi everyone! I’m at the Boys & Girls Club working on my Girl Scout Gold Award project and painting until 3:00 today. I could really use some help!

I'll be here tomorrow too. Tomorrow is the full on painting..... 9ish to..........

I’ll be honest — I’m not the world’s greatest painter 😂 but I’m trying my best to help make this teen room a better place for local youth. If anyone has some free time and would like to come help paint, I would be so thankful! 💛

📢 Looking for a School-Style Drinking Fountain (Water “Bubbler”)

Hi everyone,

My name is Avery, and I am working on my Girl Scout Gold Award project, which focuses on improving and updating a local youth space that I’ve been part of since I was young.

I am currently looking for a preloved or surplus school-style drinking fountain (wall-mounted “bubbler”) to help make the space more functional and welcoming for kids and teens.

I am hoping to find:

A wall-mounted drinking fountain (ADA or standard height)

Or a drinking fountain with a bottle filler
Used, surplus, or removed during renovation is perfectly fine

If your school, business, or organization has one available—or knows where I might be able to find one, I would be very grateful for any leads. I can help coordinate pickup if needed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for supporting youth spaces in our community
💙

Please ask local office or schools. We are willing to travel up to 2 or 3 hours to pick it up.

Big news! 🎉

Work on the Boys & Girls Club teen room officially starts May 18th! I’m so excited to finally bring this space to life.

We’ve had so many generous donations already, and I’m incredibly thankful for all the support. That said, we still need some items like colored pencils, markers, and other craft supplies to help make the room fun and engaging.

If you’d like to help but aren’t sure what to donate, I have an Amazon wish list with needed items. If you’d rather not order from Amazon, gift cards (Walmart, Amazon, Target, etc.) are always helpful so I can pick up supplies directly.

I’m also currently waiting to hear back from Target about a possible gift card donation (up to 500!), and we’ve reached out to the Elks Lodge about a potential grant as well.

Thank you all for helping make this project possible 💛

Just a quick reminder for everyone supporting my Gold Award project 💛

If you make a donation directly to the Boys & Girls Club and not through me (Avery), it unfortunately does not count toward my Girl Scout Gold Award project totals.

I am so thankful for every single donation and all the support, it truly means so much! If you’re wanting your donation to go toward my project specifically, please make sure it’s given directly through me or clearly marked for my project.

Thank you all for helping make this space better for our youth! 💫

Hi everyone! As I keep working on my Gold Award project, I’m trying to solve how to provide fresh drinking water AND a way for kids to refill their bottles 💧

The building doesn’t have a sink outside of the bathroom, so I’m looking at options that are still clean, affordable, and sustainable long-term.
Some ideas I’m exploring:

• A water cooler with 5-gallon jugs + a plan to have jugs refilled weekly
• Partnering with a local business/church to help refill water containers
• A refill station using large dispensers that can be filled off-site
• Getting multiple refillable jugs and rotating them so there’s always clean water available
• Possibly adding a simple external water line later if funding allows

My goal is to make sure kids always have access to safe drinking water without relying on bottled water.

If anyone has ideas, connections, or would be willing to help sponsor a water system or refills, I would really appreciate it!

Thank you for supporting my project ❤️

Hi, I’m Avery, and for my Gold Award project, I’m working to create a better teen space at the Boys & Girls Club. Some of the most important things on my wish list are paint to help make the space feel fresh and welcoming, a new sign so people know this space is for teens, and a microwave so we can have snacks and meals during programs.

I’m also really hoping for activity supplies like art materials, STEM kits, and games so teens have things to do that are fun, creative, and positive. These items may seem simple, but they can make a big difference in creating a safe and engaging place for teens like me.

Thank you for helping make this space something special.
