Turns out... recovery is kinda chic.

Not because it's easy. Not because it's perfect. But because asking for help, setting boundaries, resting, and healing in a world that may not always be supportive of recovery is incredibly brave.

What would you add to the list? 💙

Setting boundaries is an act of self-care.

Whether it's stepping away from conversations that don't serve you, asking for the support you need, or protecting your peace, boundaries can create the space needed for healing and recovery. Remember: your needs are valid, even if others don't always understand them.

Recovery is about so much more than what we can "see."

Some of the most meaningful milestones happen quietly—in the way you speak to yourself, ask for help, set boundaries, or begin to envision a future beyond your eating disorder. Every step forward, no matter how small it may feel, is worth recognizing.

ARFID is not just "picky eating." It's a serious eating disorder that can affect a person's physical health, emotional well-being, and quality of life.

By understanding the signs and challenging common misconceptions, we can help reduce stigma and encourage earlier intervention. Awareness is an important step toward ensuring those living with ARFID receive the support they deserve.

As we begin a new month, a gentle reminder that healing isn't measured by perfection—it's made up of small moments of self-compassion, resilience, and choosing to keep going.

As you move through August, we hope you'll carry a reminder that meets you where you are today. Save this post to revisit whenever you need it, or share it with someone who could use a little encouragement.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Meet Tori 💛

Tori is a Registered Social Worker and Senior Helpline Therapist at The Alliance, where she provides support to individuals and families navigating eating disorder recovery.

After discovering her passion for the eating disorder field during a university internship, Tori knew she wanted to build a career helping people through recovery. Today, the most meaningful part of her work is connecting with callers on The Alliance's helpline and creating a compassionate space where they feel heard and supported.

What surprised Tori most about The Alliance is how personal it feels. She says it's made up of a passionate, supportive team that's deeply committed to helping people access the care they deserve.

We're so grateful for Tori's compassion, dedication, and the care she brings to every conversation. 💛

Before commenting on someone’s body, it’s important to remember that even well-intentioned remarks about appearance can have an impact we don’t always see. We often assume a body is open for discussion, that changes are positive, or that appearance reflects health or wellbeing—but those assumptions aren’t always accurate.

What we can’t know is someone’s relationship with their body, which may be shaped by health challenges, mental health, stress, grief, or eating disorders.

High-achieving environments are often praised—but the pressure to perform, succeed, and stay in control can take a real toll.

In spaces where perfectionism, discipline, and comparison are normalized, struggles with food, exercise, and body image can be easier to overlook. Sometimes they can hide behind achievement, routine, or “doing everything right.”

That’s why awareness matters. The sooner we recognize the signs, the sooner support can begin.

OSFED (Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder) is one of the most commonly diagnosed eating disorders, yet it remains widely misunderstood or overlooked.

It includes significant eating disorder symptoms that don’t fit neatly into categories like anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating disorder, but are just as serious and clinically significant. Because OSFED doesn’t always match stereotypical presentations, many people go unseen, misdiagnosed, or told their struggle “isn’t enough” to count.
