Our Project A.L.E.C. Super Swimmer of the Week is Jeffrey! Jeffrey has such a tremendous love for the pool, and his excitement and willingness to try new skills is truly rewarding. In these videos, Jeffrey is practicing his kicking skills — not only on his stomach while learning freestyle with Mr. Jovany — but also on his back as he gets a feel for backstroke with Mr. Carlos. And as you can see, he does it all with a huge smile on his face!
One of Jeffrey’s favorite parts of each lesson is jumping into the pool. He can’t wait to spring into action!
Unfortunately, this was Jeffrey’s first and last year with us at Connections, as he and his family are moving. While we are sad to see him go, we know that wherever he ends up, his smile and positive spirit will follow, and that school will be blessed to have him as a student just as we were this school year.
Jeffrey, we are so proud of all your accomplishments both in the pool and at school this past year. You will truly be missed!!

The Adaptive Aquatics Learning and Educational Curriculum (A.L.E.C.) was created in memory of former Connections student Alec Surmont, who tragically drowned in 2014. Designed to equip individuals of all abilities with vital water safety skills, Project A.L.E.C. builds confidence, awareness, and independence in and around the water. Through adaptive teaching methods, personalized instruction, and a supportive environment, students are encouraged to learn at their own pace while developing essential life skills. Beyond swimming and water safety, the curriculum also integrates social, physical, and educational growth—ensuring that every participant has the opportunity to thrive both in the pool and beyond.
