We are at a loss here.
Lucky has been anything but lucky when it comes to finding a home. She has never shown an ounce of human aggression, and once she’s comfortable, she absolutely loves playing with other dogs. But getting to that point takes time. In a new environment, she may hide under a bed or behind a couch for weeks.
Can you blame her?
Lucky went viral as a stray dog in Miami when a man was filmed waving a machete at her in a mobile home park. Lots of people said they wanted to help. We were the ones who showed up.
Now it’s just her, us, and our budget going toward dogsitting instead of saving more dogs because we can’t find someone willing to give her the chance she deserves.
The Lucky we know gently stands on her hind legs to give hugs and spends hours playing with her husky friends in open play.
She needs either an only-dog home or someone who understands that trust takes time. Once she feels safe, she’s a completely different dog.
Lucky is about 2 years old, spayed, vaccinated, and waiting for someone to see past her fear.
If you can’t foster or adopt, please consider donating toward her dogsitting costs.
