🧡 HUNGER ACTION MONTH ENDS. HUNGER DOESN'T.

This month, we've shared some big numbers.

About 200,000 Palm Beach County residents face food insecurity.

49% of Palm Beach County households struggle to make ends meet.

And Feed the Hungry is fighting back—serving tens of thousands of neighbors and rescuing approximately $35 million worth of food each year.

But we've also shared something more important: the people behind those numbers.

A mother and her disabled son planning meals together.

A working family struggling to pay rent and still afford groceries.

A 65-year-old turning rescued food into dinner.

A father suddenly facing the financial burden of his son's diabetes.

Retired neighbors grateful for food at Christmas.

They are the reason we take action.

And now, as Hunger Action Month ends, Feed the Hungry is preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas, when more than 50,000 of our neighbors will need us again.

We're asking you to take action.

Please make a donation to Feed the Hungry and help us fill tables throughout Palm Beach County with nutritious holiday foods this Thanksgiving and Christmas.

🧡 $100 can provide 2 families holiday meals.

Every donation becomes part of someone's story.

Help us write a story this holiday season where families can focus on making memories together around the table—not worrying about where their next meal will come from.

🧡 THE HOLIDAYS ARE COMING. AND FEED THE HUNGRY IS GETTING READY.

Thanksgiving and Christmas should be about family, traditions and celebration.

But hunger doesn't take a holiday.

For seniors living on fixed incomes and families already struggling to pay their bills, putting a special holiday meal on the table can feel impossible.

After receiving Christmas groceries from Feed the Hungry, one retired neighbor, Rubin, thanked our donors and volunteers and explained simply why the food mattered so much:

Rubin shared that, as a retired senior, he and his wife live on a very limited pension and often have to carefully choose between paying bills and buying enough food to get through the month.

That's why we're preparing now.

Feed the Hungry is getting ready for our Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions, when more than 50,000 of local neighbors will need our help.

For the holidays, on top of our normal 100+ pounds of meat, produce, dairy, and dry goods we also provide special holiday meats that families can choose from, including turkey, ham, and chicken so they can prepare a meaningful holiday meal that fits their traditions.

And we need our community behind us.

🧡 Please consider making Feed the Hungry part of your holiday giving.

Together, we can fill more tables this Thanksgiving and Christmas.

🧡 54,000 CHILDREN IN PALM BEACH COUNTY ARE FOOD INSECURE.

That means tens of thousands of children in our own community are not always sure where their next meal will come from.

But in Palm Beach County, there is also hope.

Through Feed the Hungry, tens of thousands of children are served each year with nutritious groceries that help families stay healthy, stable, and together.

Among those neighbors are children who are able to grow and stay healthy because they have access to nutritious food.

One Feed the Hungry parent shared that his son was recently diagnosed with diabetes. Suddenly, the family was facing the overwhelming financial burden of medical care along with all of their regular household expenses.

The groceries they receive from Feed the Hungry changed everything.

As he explained, his family no longer has to make the impossible decision between food and healthcare.

That’s why Feed the Hungry works so hard to provide nutritious groceries—including milk, eggs, meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, and bread—to families throughout Palm Beach County.

Because behind every hunger statistic is a child—and a family doing everything they can.

🧡 $35 MILLION WORTH OF FOOD. RESCUED. SHARED. PUT TO GOOD USE.

Feed the Hungry rescues approximately $35 million worth of food each year—food that becomes meals on tables throughout our community.

Rozier is 65 and lives on a limited budget. Sometimes the groceries she receives include foods she wouldn't normally buy.

Instead of letting them go to waste, she remembers something her mother taught her: "Broaden your horizons and try it."

Recently, she turned chicken gizzards into a meal in her pressure cooker and added string beans and potatoes—all food she received through Feed the Hungry.

That's the power of food rescue.

Good food stays out of landfills. Donated dollars go further. And a neighbor has dinner on the table.

🧡 THE FACE OF HUNGER MAY LOOK DIFFERENT THAN YOU THINK.

According to the 2026 United Way ALICE Report, 49% of Palm Beach County households struggle to make ends meet.

Many are working. But after paying for housing, childcare, transportation, healthcare and other necessities, there simply isn't enough left.

One family receiving food from Feed the Hungry shared how quickly things can change. Both parents were working full-time, carefully budgeting every dollar. They described sitting down each month to pay the rent first, then calculating what was left for groceries—often finding there was very little, or nothing at all.

On some weeks, they would stretch meals by skipping breakfast or relying on inexpensive, filling foods just to get through. When their car needed repairs, everything shifted again. The repair bill meant the grocery budget disappeared entirely.

They explained that the hardest part wasn’t just the hunger—it was the stress of constantly having to choose what to go without.

That’s what ALICE (asset limited, income constrained, employed) looks like.

A car repair. A medical bill. A rent increase. One unexpected expense can turn an already-tight budget into an impossible choice.

Sometimes, groceries are what gets sacrificed.

Feed the Hungry is here so our neighbors don't have to make that choice.

🧡 WHAT DOES HUNGER ACTION LOOK LIKE?

It looks like groceries in the trunk of a family's car.

It looks like milk, eggs, cheese, meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, and bread making their way to neighbors who need them.

And sometimes, it looks like a mother and son cooking dinner together.

Monica is 65, disabled and caring for her disabled adult son. The groceries she receives from Feed the Hungry mean she worries less about how they will afford to eat.

She told us that on good days, she and her son plan their meals together. On great days, he helps her prepare them.

This is just one story among the tens of thousands of families we serve.

People. Families. Moments around the dinner table.

🧡 SEPTEMBER IS HUNGER ACTION MONTH

Hunger isn't something that happens somewhere else. It's happening right here in our community.

About 200,000 people in Palm Beach County are food insecure—meaning they don't always know where their next meal will come from.

Throughout September, we'll be sharing the story behind those numbers—and showing you how Feed the Hungry and our incredible community of volunteers, donors and partners are working every day to make a difference.

Because when our neighbors are hungry, we take action.

Mac & cheese. Peanut butter. Cereal. Pancakes.

To many of us, they’re just groceries.

To a child, they’re summer lunches.
To a senior on a fixed income, they’re peace of mind.
To a family struggling to pay rent, they’re one less impossible choice.

Every day, Feed the Hungry Pantry of Palm Beach County rescues nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste and places it into the hands of neighbors who need it most. Last year, volunteers helped rescue about 7 million pounds of food, serving more than 216,000 neighbors across Palm Beach County.

Thank you for helping us turn groceries into hope.
