Beyond the Stigma: Understanding PTSD and Effective Treatment

Lecture description: This lecture explains what PTSD is and what it is not, while providing a clear, in-depth understanding of how PTSD develops and how it can be effectively treated. Participants will also learn to recognize and dispel common myths about PTSD. Designed for consumers, caregivers, and mental health professionals, this lecture offers education, empowerment and hope.
Presenter: Dr. Stephanie Sacks is a licensed clinical psychologist and a co-founder and lead instructor of MindScience Collective, a Continuing Education platform for therapists that provides high-quality evidence-based courses that are inspiring, relevant and practical.
In her private practice, Dr. Sacks specializes in evidence-based cognitive behavioral treatment for PTSD and other Trauma and Stressor-Related Disorders, OCD-Spectrum Disorders and Anxiety Disorders, with particular expertise providing care to clinically complex clients. She has a sub-specialty working with journalists who are exposed to occupational trauma and has received training from the Global Center for Journalism and Trauma.
She has been a National Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for Posttraumatic Stress
Disorder (PTSD) Trainer and Clinical Consultant since 2013 and, along with publishing peer-reviewed research, has recently contributed to a book entitled Cognitive Processing Therapy for Complex Cases.
She is a lecturer for the National Center for PTSD, a trainer for the Strongstar Training
Initiative and she provides training and consultation for health care organizations, startups
and CE platforms of all kinds.
Dr. Sacks is an Adjunct Professor at Nova Southeastern University and a voluntary Clinical
Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California.
