Happy Juneteenth!

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of slavery. This was over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation and two months after the Civil War ended, marking true freedom for more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state.

Today, we commemorate this day while remembering the fight isn’t over. We must do all we can to preserve the rights our ancestors endured and persevered through for us to enjoy.

What a night!

FMCBA proudly celebrated the installation of its President, Ms. Freddie Menard, Esq. and a dynamic Board for the 2026–2027 bar year.

Surrounded by family, friends, mentors, colleagues, community leaders, and supporters, the evening served as a powerful reminder that strong leadership is built through collaboration, service, and a shared commitment to advancing the mission of the organization.

As the Association begins this new chapter, it does so with gratitude, purpose, and a dedication to service. Guided by this year’s theme, “Sa ou fè se li ou wè”—essentially meaning you reap what you sow—our Association looks forward to planting seeds that will strengthen membership, empower communities, and build upon the legacy of this incredible organization.
