Blanket The World With Love

Blanket The World With Love "Blanket the World with Love is something my family taught me when I was very young.

The theory is that everyone in the whole world, at some time in their lives, needs a warm blanket." ~ Elaine Leas-Manyoki

Just wanted everyone to know that whoever has been in contact with me in the last 7 days should stay indoors and contact your nearest test center!! I’m so, so sorry to everyone of my friends and or coworkers who have been in close proximity to me. I have had symptoms for a few days now and it has just been confirmed.

I have been diagnosed with being awesome, hilarious, and completely off the chain! I was told there is no cure as of yet for all of these symptoms.

When I see this re-posted, I’ll know who has read this to the end. I know there are a few that won't let me down. 🥰

Got a few hours of breathing room from the hotel while we figure out what is going on with the bank card and this nonsense. At this point we are 145 dollars short. If you can help even a little, we would appreciate it. PM me for PayPal and Venmo info..

Our issues with our bank continue to mount, and again we find ourselves in crisis. Even after going to the bank last Friday and getting some of the problems fixed, changing passwords and dropping apps we thought might be the source of the problem, we are continuing to get denials on charges that normally go through, with no problem. It started with a purchase from the dollar store, denying a purchase while there was sufficient money in the bank to cover it, several times over. After leaving that store, we went to Aldis and Wawa, which for some reason, went through no sweat, although they couldn't process debit cards, only credit. And all of the stores were in the same 3 block area. Subsequently, we paid for groceries, laundry, and last week's hotel fees. Tonight, the hotel got rejected, as did the laundry. I don't know what was fiddled with, but we are still investigating. Some numbers aren't adding up correctly.

The long and short of this is that we need to cover the hotel tomorrow, for 620 dollars. We have some funds left from one of the other cards, but we have to cover the hotel by tomorrow. The 620 is what we need to cover after our card balances.

If we can get a few people to help out, Dave gets paid on Thursday and we can get money back to you. This really sucks like you wouldn't believe. I am so tired of begging for help, and I am certain you are tired of hearing it. I have an offer of some help to get out of here while we get enough down money, but that doesn't solve this immediate problem. Please consider helping this time. Otherwise, we are out on the street.

First there was Pangea..

New photographs have shown how Africa is physically splitting apart. Scientists say that this will eventually lead to the formation of a new ocean and give rise to a new continent. In today's video, we will explore what will happen to the world we know, after Africa splits.

On Friday of last week, I was able to meet with Cathy Olbrych, who is a very prolific crafter, so that she could hand off to me numerous blankets, some hats, and other items. Today I photographed them and I will be getting them ready to go out to our recipients. It will be a hard decision where to send things, since the need is so great in so many places..I am posting today's photos here ..

Today I received a big box of yarn and knitting supplies from a dear friend and sometimes contributor to BTWWL, Jutta Slade, from Texas. She sent some great colors of yarn, sand colored homespun, some seafoam homespun, and some dusty rose and soft navy yarn, by Red Heart. Also in the box were some wonderful circular knitting needles, and some unfinished items that need to be completed. This is a wonderful gift, and I can parcel these out almost immediately to be finished. I want to thank Jutta for these items, simce they can be used for folks at the VA, or sent as finished things up to the Pine Ridge reservation to be handed out. Yes, it's August, but the cold weather comes quickly in Nebraska and South Dakota. So, warm up your knitting and crochet needles, ladies..time to get to work!!

I want to pass along the thanks of the homeless co ordinator from Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. He said that yesterday 3 boxes arrived there that my friends Diane and Melissa had mailed for me earlier in June. James says to tell you that you are all rock stars! There were blankets and hats
and he was thrilled to receive them for his clients. You all ARE rock stars..go..rest, and get ready to start again!
Also in that shipment was a big box of baby blankets that went to Gwinnett Womens Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia. I am certain they were welcome gifts for the moms and babies there.

Can we do these caps? They look fairly easy, and might be good as chemo caps..

On Monday, I was able to meet with Cathy Olbrych, who passed along a number of blankets, both adult and baby, and 14 hats. Photos of the blankets and hats will appear below this post. I was also able to pass along to Cathy two sets of knitted squares, to be turned into blankets, most likely to go to the Pine Ridge Reservation. These knitted squares were made and donated by Susan Harter. I also got a lovely thank you note in the mail today from the director of services in the NICU at the Gwinnett Women's Center in Lawrenceville, GA. They were most appreciative of the box of nearly 40 baby blankets, and said that they would be very useful in this season of giving coming up. Keep those crochet hooks and knitting needles warmed up, ladies, we will be sending more blankets to the VA shortly, and we always need items for the reservation.

This little fellow is a wombat, who was injured when his mother was killed being hit by a car. He is snuggling in a false pouch, so that the vets in Australia can care for him and help him feel like he is with mom. From the photo, it looks similar to an adult size cap. Is this something we should try, since these little ones are finding themselves in such horrid situations? Between road accidents and fires, the wombat joeys and kangaroos could use the help..we can consult on size and texture..
