About Paraclete Women

This is not a sorority, or a social club, although you may meet others with whom you may wish to socialize. We are a group of powerful engaged women in the community who can and will make a difference. We will operate in a moral and ethical way at all times we are together to learn.

The Paraclete Woman is an influencer in the world. She is strong, knowledgeable, observant, and a woman worthy of respect. She pays attention to her surroundings, her family and her community. She is aware of areas of vulnerability both in the home and in her circle of influence.

Paraclete comes from the Greek word paraclesis and refers to the protectors who fought back to back ,to see 360 degrees, and is where the term “I’ve got your back” comes from. As women, we need to have each other’s back, and the back of our homes and community. We are more involved in our communities than ever, we are the heartbeat in many communities whether at work, at school, in our neighborhoods or in our churches.Safety is too important and too focus driven for distraction.

We will meet regularly to learn more about the safety and security of our world, starting with our immediate towns and cities. The time we are together will be spent in serious reflection of how we may be vulnerable and how we can harden ourselves and our surroundings to be safe ourselves and keep our families and loved ones safe.

And we are so much more than self defense. We are a collective of women with different gifting, different talents and different abilities that see the world around us more clearly at times. Our kids come home from school and tell us of a child having trouble, a child who has not eaten, we are parts of groups that provide care to the homeless, the hungry, the illiterate. We hear of job loss, fractured families and grieving people. We are a powerful group of women who can fight, not just in self-defense but in defense of the poor, the destitute, the voiceless. The scripture Proverbs 31:8,9 defines us well and the mission of the group.

We will offer training all all kinds, taught by our members and when not possible by women who bring information and empowerment to us. We are not attorneys, but the approach we will take will be lawful.

For those who wish to get training for family members we have curriculum specifically designed for children and family members on being B.R.A.V.E. B.R.A.V.E. is interactive training for children 6-12 who may be, or have been the target of abduction. I AM A WINNER is training for children 6-12 who may have been bullied, or be the bully. And bullying is a family responsibility as we examine what we personally contribute to an environment conducive to bullying.

You do not have to have previous training or knowledge of self defense to be a part of this organization. You do have to desire a safer environment and be committed to practice what you learn toward proficiency. You can come every meeting or select those that meet the needs you have. Your friends and family are welcome, but we need to know in advance in order to have enough training material.

You may want to teach us more about what you do in the community. How are you involved? What do you need from a powerful group of women who are protectors? Do you need a book bag for a child, clothes for foster kids, employment skills for a person fighting for a better job? Together we can protect not just the physicality of our communities, but the heart. We will provide all tools that you will need for each class we teach. And we will help to provide you with what you need for your causes.

And most of all, we offer a safe supportive environment where you, a Paraclete Woman, will grow.
