Description of Services for Adolescents & Adults

FCA promotes a System of Care Approach to fostering healthy and peaceful interactions that help rebuild family relationships and improve the overall quality of life in communities throughout Palm Beach County. A System of Care is a network of community services and supports organized to better meet the needs of at risk individuals with behavioral c

hallenges. Through coordinated efforts individuals, caregivers and community agents (support sponsors) partner to positively influence the level of functioning in clients necessary to ensure stability and normalcy across all identified domains (home, school, work, community) of their life. When a loved one experiences a serious emotional disturbance the entire family unit is stressed. Current systems are often ill equipped and lack the financial resources to deal with the multiple and varied challenges. Utilizing evidence based programs and practices, FCA service professionals act as change agents coordinating communicative interactions between the individuals requiring intervention and each of the support sponsors from partnering agencies throughout the treatment process. Support sponsors such as caregivers, guidance counselors, athletic coaches, spiritual guides, AA sponsors, mentors, and trusted neighbors are actively engaged in the restorative process, and without adding expense to the course of care. Eligibility Criteria

FCA offers a range of programs designed to provide comprehensive services to adolescent and adult clients in Palm Beach County troubled by low self-esteem, social isolation, academic or employment based performance issues, anger management issues, family problems, grief and loss, alcohol or drug addiction, eating disorders, depression and anxiety, mood disorders, antisocial behaviors, PTSD, victims in need of crisis intervention or other debilitating matters. Clients with identified charges or conviction(s) of active or reactive sexual behaviors and/or forcible felony(s) shall be diverted to an alternate collaborative program. Staff Qualifications

FCA staff consists of qualified licensed and/or certified professionals in their areas of expertise. Members of FCA successfully complete local and national background screenings and credential verification before hire. Each service provider is required to complete 36 professional and 25 specialty focus training hours annually, plus attend supervision and clinical staffing sessions weekly. Collaborations between FCA’s diverse staff and countless community and county organizations make it possible for clients to be assured affordable, accessible and attainable services. Recent upgrade in technologies will afford FCA’s administrative supports’ the ability to advance accountability reporting of client progress to referring agencies. Outpatient Services

FCA utilizes a multimodal approach to therapy and focuses on the strengths of the participants toward executing desired healthy mental development. After a comprehensive assessment is completed and analyzed, clients may be recommended to individual, family or group therapy as part of the treatment plan developed by client and support team. While most interventions are based on cognitive behavioral therapy, the goals for each activity are specific to the condition being addressed. Whenever a client is in need of building ego strength, individual therapy becomes the primary component in treatment. During individual therapy, clients accomplish getting to know themselves better; working on alleviating emotional pain and confusion; are assisted with developing a greater understanding of issues; learn effective coping skills, and are able to plan future expectancies based on past experiences explored. In family therapy members practice unconditional positive regard; learn to improve family communication and supportiveness; and gain effective problem solving abilities, while decreasing unhealthy interactions. Often times parenting strategies are included. Group therapy affords participants with common struggles a safe environment which to listen and provide feedback to peers who share similar struggles. Feelings of validation and support are often a consequence of mutual discovery of similar experiences. This revelation often encourages motivation for wellness. Mental health therapists are instrumental in facilitating this exchange and ensuring the coordination of support networks for clients. Prevention and Educational Classes

Helping Adolescents or Adults Learn Tolerance (H.A.L.T.) utilizes the evidence-based Phoenix, New Freedom and Arise Curriculums to deliver 4-hour or 12 week educational groups focused on specific topics like Drug and Alcohol, Anger Management, Gang Prevention, Life Skills and Consequences of Unjust Misconduct. For 8 week groups, designed to educate on Domestic Violence, the evidence based program Seeking Safety teaches participants about the cycle of violence, dating violence, co-dependency pitfalls, and other lessons to encourage healthy and safe interactions. Our newest educational class ViewPoint instructs adolescents and adults on how to live successfully with the challenges of daily living evident in persons diagnosed with Bipolar, ADHD, General Anxiety and other emotional disorders.
