RIP baby Maya ❤️‍🩹🌈

This is the update I prayed I wouldn’t have to make 😔

We still don’t know exactly what happened to Maya or what caused the severe head trauma she suffered. Whether she was intentionally hurt at the hands of a cruel human or left to die after being hit by a heartless one, this sweet girl deserved so much better 💔

Her breathing had started improving, and for a moment we all held onto hope that maybe she would pull through. But despite that small progress, neurologically she was gone 😔

Thank you to her finder for not walking past her and making sure she got help. And thank you to everyone who donated, shared, prayed, and fought alongside us to give her the chance she deserved. I am pro-euthanasia when suffering can’t be fixed, but when an animal shows there’s a chance, I will always stand beside them and fight for them. Sadly, this precious girl just wasn’t meant to stay.

What comforts me is knowing Maya did not leave this world alone, ignored, or unloved. Because of all of you, she got to spend her final moments safe, noticed, cared for, and deeply loved. That matters more than words can explain.

Another beautiful angel waiting for me at the rainbow bridge. Boy, what a heavy heart I carry sometimes… but how lucky am I to have so many perfect souls waiting for me there 🌈

I’ll see you again someday, sweet Maya ❤️‍🩹

‼️ Emergency funds needed to save this sweet baby! 😭

Hit by a car, but miraculously no broken bones or lung damage 🙏🏻 she does have head trauma with fluid/swelling, but the vet believes she could recover with treatment. Village, can we give her a chance? 🥺 she’s only a baby 💔

We’re at VEG Boynton Beach, initial estimate is $565 to stabilize. I know it’s a big ask, but she at least deserves a chance 😔

Urgent plea for vet care support 🥺 The need for help keeps growing, but the donations haven’t been keeping up. In May alone, we spent over $3,000 in veterinary care 😩

Wild Whiskers focuses on helping the cats that are often overlooked — the ferals, the hospice kitties, and the medical cases that need someone willing to step in and give them a chance.

Some need extensive long-term treatment, while others simply need compassion, proper veterinary care, and a safe place to land while they heal. They deserve comfort, love, and the opportunity to feel better.

But right now… we are drowning in vet bills.

In the middle of moving, you’ll still find me sitting in the shower with a scared new community cat — gently combing fly eggs from his fur, giving him ear scratches, and trying to help him feel safe for the first time in who knows how long.

That sweet boy, Eli, is in very rough shape and has a vet appointment tomorrow. We said yes to him because we couldn’t stand watching him suffer alone outside for one more minute, but that yes means yet another bill on top of all of the others.

These are only the vet bills — this does not include medications, preventatives, food, litter, supplies, supplements, or the endless daily care these cats require.

Our May vet care beyond routine care included:

🐾 Zev - over $300 after developing MRSA in his eye socket following eye removal surgery, requiring culture and medication.

🐾 Patriot - over $1,000 for his full mouth extraction, senior pre op bloodwork and x-rays.

🐾 Chance - over $1,000 for her stomatitis full mouth extraction, and follow-up care after she became lethargic, stopped eating, and started losing weight after surgery.

🐾 Baby Brielle - over $100 in x-rays when she could not properly use her back legs and we needed to rule out injuries.

🐾 Ben - over $200 for diagnostics and humane euthanasia after his terminal cancer diagnosis.

🐾 Kai - over $300 in bloodwork and supportive care.

And now Eli needs help too 🥺

These cats we help improve tremendously with proper veterinary care and compassionate treatment. They deserve more than suffering outside in pain simply because medical care is expensive.

But we cannot continue saying yes to these cases without support from the community behind us.

If Wild Whiskers and the work we do means something to you, please consider donating or sharing this post. Even $5 truly helps and adds up more than you know.

Your support is the reason these cats get a chance to feel safe, comfortable, loved, and cared for instead of suffering alone outside.

Thank you for standing with us beside the forgotten ones ❤️‍🩹

Good morning from Kai 🥹

A senior, beat-up, mangey little trailer park tomcat… and heartbreakingly, heartworm positive 💔

Cats rarely get heartworms, and many don’t survive once they do. The fact that this sweet boy made it this far alone on the streets is honestly incredible.

Kai was trapped for TNVR, but seeing how old and tired he was, we just couldn’t put him back out.

This is exactly the kind of cat our rescue is all about. The ones people walk past. The “gross” cats nobody wants to touch, acknowledge, or stop for. The sick, scruffy, broken-down street cats who have spent their whole lives just trying to survive.

Those are the ones we love the most 🥺

We don’t know how long Kai has. We don’t know if he’ll beat the heartworms or if they’ll ultimately be what takes him from us. But hospice fostering is what we love most — giving cats like him a safe, loved, comfortable home for whatever time they have left.

Right now, Kai is otherwise healthy, happy, eating well, and making nonstop biscuits like the sweetest little boy he is.

Whether we get weeks or months with him, we’ll make sure he never has to suffer or wonder if he’s loved ever again. And when the time comes, we’ll be there to help him cross surrounded by comfort and love ❤️‍🩹

Update on the sweet boy we rescued this morning 💔

Bathing an adult community cat is not something we would normally do, but because of the amount of fly eggs and maggots covering this poor baby, it was absolutely necessary to help remove them and give him some relief. His poor skin is so infected, raw and painful 😔

He was scared during his medicated shower, but he did so incredibly well. And the moment we finished, all he wanted was to curl up in my lap and be loved 😭 Moments like that are exactly why I love animals so much. Even after everything humans and the streets have put them through, they still choose love.

We’re still in the middle of moving, and this definitely wasn’t part of the plan… but rescue never waits.

Welcome to the foster family, sweet boy 💙 You are safe now. No more suffering alone outside, no more pain without comfort.

Please keep him in your prayers that we got to him in time. He’s been through so much already, now it’s our turn to help him fight ❤️‍🩹

06/05/2026

Skin and bones. Severely dehydrated. Dental disease. Covered in mange, infected raw skin, fly strike eggs, and the worst odor from being so neglected… yet the second he was safe, he started making biscuits and begging for love 😭💔

Somehow, no matter what they’ve been through, they still trust us.

Not how I expected my morning to go, but this sweet boy is safe now 🥺

Thank you to Theresa for reaching out for help and to Dawn for rushing to pick him up to meet me 🙏🏻

Will post updates soon ❤️‍🩹

Good morning ☀️ If we’re a little slow responding, we’re right in the middle of our move! Last night was the kitties’ first night in our new home, so far they seem to be liking it 🥰

And of course… we already had our first surprise visitor 🐈‍⬛🙃 we’ll get settled then be setting traps to get any unfixed kitties TNVR 💕

Can’t even eat a banana in peace without getting the full stare down like I owe somebody a bite 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
