But the Crossroads Dancers of Palm Beach are bringing the other form of Irish dancing to Palm Beach County. We won't say Irish set dancing is the cooler form, but, well, come check us out and draw your own conclusions. Irish set dancing is a form of social dancing that many of us say is like square dancing on steroids with great Celtic music thrown in. Sets are mostly danced by eight people and ty

pically consist of three to six different parts called figures. We dance to different Celtic tunes, including reels, jigs, hornpipes and polkas. We dance in different formations within each set. Sometimes we're dancing interwoven in a circle called a "Christmas," and sometimes we're dancing in pairs doing the "ceili swing." Our classes are taught by Liam Eagan, a set dancing connoisseur, who spends part of every summer dancing at ceilis throughout Ireland. Liam mostly learned dancing by attending more than 1,000 ceilis in Ireland and around the world. He also has had classes with the foremost set dancing teachers. We offer classes every Tuesday (see Events for class location and time) and we also hold periodic ceilis (pronounced KAY-lees), or social dance parties, in the area (see Events for the next party).
