The VillageGreens is a community garden project of Northwood Greenlife, a nonprofit community-based organization whose mission is described below. Located at 441 25th Street in the Northwood Village area West Palm Beach, Florida, The Village Greens is one of two gardens approved by the City for a recently established pilot community gardens program. rs the opportunity to learn the basic gardening techniques as well as more advanced chemical free gardening practices of sustainability. There are many benefits to gardening; the camaraderie of seeing our neighbors and meeting new ones, and being out in the fresh air and sunshine for a healthy dose of Vitamin D. The act of gardening itself provides health benefits to gardeners including physical exercise, emotional well being, and knowledge about how to grow seasonal vegetables and introduce healthier foods to our tables. Our neighborhood members and business owners volunteer countless hours in their various fields of expertise. Soil preparation, weeding, planting, mulching, trimming, and fertilizing, are only a small part of this ongoing community endeavor. The Village Greens Community GardenThe VillageGreens as also serves as an educational venue for energy and water conservation. Three above ground cisterns collect and utilize rooftop runoff water for irrigation, and solar panels create energy for the irrigation, and evening and security lighting. Programs related to these, and other topics, will help the members of our community and business owners learn about, and benefit from the principles of gardening sustainability.
