Congratulations to The IDDeal Foundation on making the IDDEAL Place a reality, addressing a pervasive need for affordable and accommodating housing for people with disabilities. Thank you for doing your part to create a local and quality option for people with different abilities to call home.

Families, founders, and supporters gathered Tuesday, for a moment many have dreamed about — the ribbon-cutting of The IDDEAL Place, an affordable housing project designed specifically for adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, also known as I/DD.

As summer begins and the Summer Soltice welcomes long days of endless adventures, exploring, and memories, we are glad to share the source of Benjamin’s newfound freedom. Rebecca came to us after finding support for half of the cost of a Sami Stroller for Benjamin. Through a partnership with Wheelchairs 4 Kids, we were able to cover the other half of this piece of equipment, making the stroller and closer beach access a reality.

In partnership with Clinics Can Help, the LEEDS Foundation provided full funding for two custom manual wheelchairs with customized seating systems for brothers Riley, 13, and Ryan, 10. Both brothers have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

We’re proud to see our friends and partners at Shifting Gears United (SGU) featured in a recent WPTV segment, highlighting how inclusive fitness empowers participants to break through limits while building confidence, independence, and a true sense of belonging.

LEEDS Foundation and SGU (Jacqueline Kapinowski and Christina Ford) share a mission of empowering people with disabilities to “get back in the race” after injury. Designed for individuals of all abilities, the Shifting Gears program brings together participants with and without disabilities in an inclusive environment focused on strength, confidence, and community.

It’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when determination meets opportunity — and when people come together to lift each other up.
