Thanks to everyone who came out last weekend to our youth archery workshop at the .

Over the weekend, more than 150 kids got the chance to learn the basics of archery, bow safety, and get some rounds in. We also got to talk with parents and attendees about BHA’s mission and the work being done to protect public lands and waters.

Thanks as well to everyone who bought raffle tickets and helped make events like this possible.

It was good to see so many families having a good time and to meet folks from across the outdoor community.

Thanks to and everyone who came out to the Make a Difference May/Public Lands Packout cleanup event in Ocala National Forest.

It takes real effort to show up and do the work, and that means a lot for the places we love to fish, hunt, and camp. Glad to see folks in the community of all ages stepping up and taking care of our public lands.

🏹 Congrats to Brody Millan of Wild Rivers Whitetails for winning our 1st wall of bows raffle!

Thank you to and everyone who came out to see us, support our youth archery workshop, and enter the raffle. We appreciate everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and helped support our mission to protect public lands and keep them public.

We still have two bows left to raffle off at future events, so keep an eye out for where we’ll be next.

Come out and join the Florida BHA Chapter and Heart of Florida at Fore Lake Campground on Saturday, May 2nd for a Make a Difference May event! We’ll be camping the night before on Friday, May 1st and venture into Ocala National Forest at 9 am on Saturday, May 2nd, to pick up trash and help restore the area’s natural beauty.

This event is open to the public and all ages and pets are welcome. Please wear appropriate clothing (pants, closed-toe shoes, hats, gloves, sunscreen, etc). It’s recommended to bring water and snacks for the hike.

All participants must RSVP and sign a waiver. Please carpool when possible due to limited parking. A potluck lunch will be available after the cleanup so please bring your favorite foods to share with the other attendees.

🦌 The Florida Chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is hosting an educational adult hunter deer camp in North Florida.

This is a limited availability DIY hunt camp for adults who want to gain experience scouting, sitting, making decisions, and taking responsibility in the field. Florida BHA board members and volunteers will be on site for safety, questions, and help with field dressing, but this is not a guided hunt.

The property is owned by The Future of Hunting in Florida and is used exclusively for educational hunting events. Multiple elevated blinds are placed near feeding and bedding areas, designed for a low pressure and safe learning environment.

Details:
📍Dates: 2/20 (5 PM) - 2/22 (1 PM), 2026
📍Cost: $150 for an individual blind or $200 for a two person shared blind
📍Costs go towards providing programming, mentors, property rental, and supporting BHA’s mission

Includes:
📍All Saturday meals + Sunday breakfast
📍Free tent camping, or $50 for a bunk space if available (BYO bedding; no electricity or running water provided)

Participants should be familiar with safety requirements and Florida hunting regulations. If you do not have an appropriate rifle, contact the coordinator and one may be available for rent.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the 7th annual small game hunt at Dinner Island Ranch WMA!

It was great catching up with current and prospective BHA members, sharing good food, and enjoying harvested game during lunch. Special thanks to those who donated items for our auction! Your support helps us highlight the opportunities public lands provide.
