Mrs. Edna Whitaker understood the value of education long before she ever had the opportunity to pursue it herself.
Beginning her first job while still in middle school, she spent her life working to support her family and instilling the importance of hard work, perseverance, and education into her children. Though higher education was a luxury she could not afford, she remained a passionate advocate for learning and opportunity.

Mrs. Whitaker became a role model not only to her family, but to everyone around her, inspiring future generations through her strength, wisdom, and sacrifice. Her legacy continues through the Miley Miller Foundation, where an annual scholarship proudly bears her name.

As her youngest daughter, Yvette M. Miley, once shared, a quote by author Alice Walker best described her mother:
“My mom knew what I needed to know without knowing a page of it herself.”

This Mother’s Day, we honor the women whose love, sacrifice, and belief in education became the foundation for something greater. 🖤
 
Pastor Mary A. Miller and Mrs. Edna Whitaker understood that opportunity could change the trajectory of a family, a community, and generations to come. Their legacies continue to live on through every student empowered by the scholarships created in their names. Before there was a foundation, there were mothers who planted the vision.
 
Today, we celebrate their elegance, their resilience, and the enduring impact of motherhood. ✨
