EmpowHER has wrapped up another powerful year of advocacy — and Project T.E.E.T.H. continues to shine.

Teens Embracing Excellent Teeth Health is our commitment to protecting youth oral health, especially as communities face new challenges.

In 2025, Florida’s ban on fluoride additives in public water systems took effect. Fluoride has long been supported by the CDC and ADA as a safe, effective tool to prevent tooth decay — and its removal places low‑income and minority youth at even greater risk.

Poor oral health isn’t just about smiles. It affects pain levels, school attendance, confidence, and academic performance. Dental pain is one of the leading causes of school absences, and untreated issues can follow teens for years.

This is why EmpowHER shows up.
This is why T.E.E.T.H. matters.
And this is why we will keep advocating, educating, and empowering.

God’s wonderful impact on lives is undeniable. He brought Cerenity Frederick into my life through the EmpowHER Leadership Academy for Girls during the 2024–2025 academic year. The academy empowers high school girls by teaching them leadership and advocacy.

Today, through her “Ask Me Anything” session, Cerenity returned as the guest speaker for the 2025–2026 academy year.

Cerenity is a junior at Howard University, currently in her second year, majoring in Legal Communications on the Pre-Law track. She inspired the girls and left them with these nuggets of wisdom:

1. When selecting a college, choose one that shapes your goals and aspirations.
2. Advocate for yourself.
3. Leave your stamp on the world.
4. Your network is more than who you know—it becomes your net worth.
5. Have an active prayer life.
6. Not knowing anyone on campus became my reason for existing. Don’t choose a college because of your friends or to be close to your family.
7. Time is not refundable; use it with intention.
