Walking into a new treatment can be nerve-racking. New room, new equipment, a lot of questions. At the Neil S. Hirsch TMS Center at Alpert JFS, a certified technician stays with you through every session, which takes about 20 minutes. They answer your questions, check in on how you're feeling, and get to know you along the way.

The treatment is specialized. The care is personal.

If you're in an abusive relationship, you already spend a lot of energy thinking about how to stay safe. A safety plan can be the first step, whether you're thinking about leaving, getting ready to leave, or already have.

A plan can include:

-Keeping important documents somewhere secure

-Knowing a safe person or place you can turn to

-Having emergency contacts close at hand

-Thinking through how to communicate safely

-Knowing where you can go if you need to leave quickly

Every situation is different, and yours deserves a plan that fits it. Our advocates at will work with you confidentially, at your pace, with no pressure.

Sometimes finding the right treatment takes time.

For people living with depression, the path to feeling better can involve trying different approaches and still not finding the relief they need.

On , we’re highlighting another option. The Neil S. Hirsch TMS Center at Alpert JFS offers FDA-cleared Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a noninvasive treatment option for depression.

TMS isn’t right for everyone, but for those who may be appropriate candidates, it can be another option to discuss with a qualified clinical team.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last week to celebrate the opening of the Neil S. Hirsch Center at Alpert JFS!

We’re especially grateful to Representative Emily Gregory for Florida, Senator Mack Bernard and Representative Anne Gerwig for State Representative District 93 for joining us to mark this important milestone and for their support of mental health care in our community.

The new center expands access to (TMS), helping address cost barriers and connect more people with additional treatment options for depression.

Depression is more than feeling sad, and it's not a personal failure. Today, National Depression Screening Day, is a good day to be honest about how you've really been doing.

Some dates become part of our collective memory. October 7 is one of them.

Three years ago today, lives were taken, survivors were changed forever, and families and communities were left with a grief that hasn't ended.

There is no right way to carry a day like this. You might want to be with people. You might want quiet. You might not know what you need yet. Whatever today feels like for you, there's room for it.
