He wasn't lazy. He had undiagnosed ADHD, and he'd spent 25 years blaming himself for it.

Roseline Raphael, psychiatric nurse practitioner at Alpert JFS, told The Palm Beach Post that untold numbers of adults are living the same way: exhausted, overprepared, working twice as hard just to look organized, and quietly convinced they're the problem.

They're not. And the way forward starts with a real evaluation, not a guess.

Roseline is part of our behavioral health team. For 50+ years, Alpert JFS has been the place Palm Beach County calls when something's wrong and you don't know where else to turn. If this sounds familiar, reach out. www.alpertjfs.org

A new school year brings new opportunities and Alpert Jewish Family Service is so proud to help students and their families start strong.

As students prepare to head back to the classroom, Alpert Jewish Family Service is helping ensure children in its Mentoring 4 Kids program have the tools they need for a successful school year. 🎒✏️ 🚸 🏫 🍎

During its annual Back-to-School Giveaway, Alpert JFS provided backpacks, school supplies, and school uniforms to children and families from across Palm Beach County. The event supports participants in the organization's Mentoring 4 Kids (M4K) program, which pairs children ages 6 to 14 who have experienced the loss of a significant caregiver through death or divorce with carefully screened and trained adult mentors. These one-on-one relationships provide encouragement, stability, and support during a pivotal time in a child's life.

Evelyn Grapek survived the Holocaust. This week she sat down in front of a camera to make sure students in Palm Beach County hear that history from someone who lived it.

The video is being produced by the The School District of Palm Beach County, and it was a privilege to be in the room.

Evelyn is one of hundreds of survivors who call this county home. Since 1995, the Alpert JFS Holocaust Survivor Assistance Program has helped them navigate reparations claims, get medical care and food, and stay connected, so they can keep living with dignity in their own homes and keep telling their stories.

Shabbat Shalom.

Some history you can only learn one way: from the people who lived it.

Thank you to the Florida Jewish Journal for spotlighting Eva Weiss's op-ed. Eva is our Lead Holocaust Care Manager and Community Education Specialist at Alpert Jewish Family Service.

Technology will keep evolving, but it can't replace sitting with a survivor and hearing their story firsthand. That's mission of Albert JFS: caring for the survivors in our community and protecting their stories, so the next generation inherits the truth.

Thank you to the South Florida Sun Sentinel for publishing this timely and powerful op-ed by Alpert JFS' Eva Weiss.

As the daughter of Holocaust survivors and a dedicated advocate, Eva reminds us that while technology can inform us, it can never replace the power of a survivor's lived experience.

As the number of living Holocaust survivors continues to decline, preserving authentic testimony has never been more important. Their voices provide truth, humanity, and perspective that no technology can ever replicate. Their stories must continue to be heard, honored, and preserved.

We remain committed to ensuring Holocaust survivors' voices continue to educate, inspire, and remind future generations of the importance of truth, compassion, and remembrance.
