Kiwanis Club of West Orange Donates Winter Jackets and Toys to Hazel Avenue Elementary School
WEST ORANGE β The Kiwanis Club of West Orange donated winter jackets and toys to Hazel Avenue Elementary School, helping meet an immediate need identified within the local school community.
The donation was accepted by Joel A. Castillo, Ed.S., principal of Hazel Avenue Elementary School, from Frank Cahill, Governor of the New Jersey District of Kiwanis International. The contribution came as the Kiwanis Club of West Orange is in the process of forming and conducting a needs assessment to determine how best to support children and families in the community.
During that assessment, organizers learned that Hazel Avenue Elementary School had a need for winter clothing and toys for students. Cahill, working alongside Jessica Almeida, Lt. Governor of the New Jersey District of Kiwanis International, coordinated the collection of items and personally delivered them to the school.βKiwanis is about seeing a need and taking action,β Cahill said. βAs we work to establish a new Kiwanis Club in West Orange, our focus is on supporting children right here in the community and making an immediate, positive impact.β
