Barbara Josselsohn joins us with a talk on "Memory, Magic and the making of THE SECRET ORPHANAGE".

Barbara Josselsohn is a best-selling author of nine historical and contemporary novels. Her newest book is "The Secret Orphanage" (Bookouture, 2025), a multigenerational story about an American schoolteacher who becomes embroiled in the French Resistance and a present-day librarian intent on discovering her grandfather’s wartime secrets.

Barbara teaches novel and memoir writing at the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College, Westport Writers Workshop, and Scarsdale Library, and has also published hundreds of articles and essays about family, home and relationships in major and regional publications. She is currently at work on a new historical novel that is scheduled for release in Summer, 2026.

Israeli Film Festival
June 9-16, 2026

We are proud to be partnering with the Marlene Meyerson JCC for the 14th annual Israel Film Center Festival, running from June 9-16. The festival celebrates and showcases the best new Israeli films along with post-screening conversations with filmmakers and actors.

Hadassah New York will be sponsoring TWO films this year: "For the Love of a Woman" on June 15 · 5:30 pm and also the closing film "Tell me Everything" on June 16 · 7:30 pm.

Use Hadassah's code for a 20% discount: hadassah2026 (all lower case). The code for '20% off' works on all films during the festival.

Louise Sherby and Rita Lourie represented Hadassah at the Met Council's Annual Legislative Breakfast this past weekend. This annual event brings leaders from across New York State to address poverty and support vulnerable communities.
