Labors of Love: The Life and Legacy of Henrietta Szold

Join us for a screening of Labors of Love: The Life and Legacy of Henrietta Szold. This documentary highlights Henrietta Szold as a twentieth century visionary. Learn about her monumental humanitarian pursuits, breaking barriers as an educator and social activist, establishing a healthcare system in Palestine mandating that Arabs and Jews be treated equally and spearheading Youth Aliyah, rescuing thousands of children from N**i occupied Europe. Followed by Hadassah National Past President Marcie Natan sharing how Henrietta’s vision is shaping Hadassah today.

Please join Yad Vashem USA Foundation on Sunday, November 8 for the second annual Spread the Light Kristallnacht commemoration in New York City.

Dani Dayan, Chairman of Yad Vashem, will join author Dara Horn for a conversation moderated by Adam Kuperstein of NBC 4 New York. The program will also include performances by Cantor Azi Schwartz החזן עזי שוורץ and Broadway performer Steven Skybell, accompanied by Zalmen Mlotek.

Let's get together in person, in the usual Lincoln Center location, for eating and socializing starting at 1:30 pm with coffee/tea and delectable desserts followed by "sharing of thoughts" on "This Is Not About Us" by Allegra Goodman, ending around 3:30 pm.

Join us on a docent led museum tour for an enriching cultural experience viewing two of their current exhibits. "Mothers, Prophets and Warriors: Women of the Bible" reminds us of the importance of women’s agency, courage and wisdom to our heritage. "A Joyful Noise! Photographs by Lloyd Wolf" documents the international Jewish klezmer music scene through photographs and music. Klezmer music comes to life in these exciting photographs.

Join us to hear two speakers from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) --Abby Lester speaking on "Bearing Witness: 20th-Century Jewish History Through the Lens of the JDC Archives" and Isabelle Rohr speaking on ”Jewish Lives and Solidarity in Morocco during the Shoah".

Abby Lester is the Director of the Global Archives of the JDC, one of the world's most significant collections of modern Jewish history. With over 25 years of experience spanning manuscript repositories and academic archives, Abby has served in senior archival roles at Sarah Lawrence College, the Columbia University Archives, the Jewish Museum of Maryland, and the American Jewish Historical Society in Waltham, MA.

Isabelle Rohr is the Deputy Director of the Global Archives of the JDC. She has a B.A in International Relations and a M.A in History from Tufts University as well as a Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University. She obtained a PhD in International History from the London School of Economics in May 2006.
