“To identify the presence of racism in our lives, we must have an operative definition of racism…..

I like many of the definitions of racism sociologists use, but one of my favorites comes from a renowned scholar, Dr. Camara Jones. “Racism is a system of structuring opportunity and assigning value based on the social interpretation of how one looks (which is what we call ‘race’), that unfairly disadvantages some individuals and communities, unfairly advantages other individuals and communities, and saps the strength of the whole society through the waste of human resources.”
- Dr. Janice Johnson Dias in her newest Substack entitled “IT’S RACISM”

Our president defines, examines, and challenges racism in her newest Substack.

There’s alot of nuance to the topic of using AI in the classroom and at home. All kids should possess the basic skill of being able to write short, long, and extended essays, but teachers and parents are reporting that students nowadays don’t and are blaming AI chat bots for this predicament. The New York Times talks all about this in depth on their website! See the link in their bio to read more.

It seems like different people have different takes on the topic👀📚

It’s no surprise that books are good for your brain📚.

Contrary to popular belief, the benefits of reading fiction extend far beyond entertainment, and in fact can shape our skills and perspectives in ways that we can ultimately apply to the real world🌎🧠💭.

Our work is far from finished as we will continue to help out different families affected by the hurricane as much as we possibly can. Standing with our community is what drives our mission and we do what we do as a foundation for this very reason💚
