The Mon-Yough River Valley Rotary Club was at it again on Saturday to ensure that veterans' graves at Maple Creek Cemetery would have American flags in time for Memorial Day. It's the second consecutive weekend that club members spent time placing flags at local cemeteries. This past Saturday was District 7305's Epic Day of Service when Rotarians throughout the region were out in the community performing service projects.

Today, the Mon-Yough River Valley Rotary Club honored the Charleroi Area High School Interact Club "Students of the Month" at a breakfast celebration in the school's Alumni Room. Congratulations to Finlee Lenhart, Ava Lion, Aryana Chiplaskey and Joelle Pendleton for winning the awards and to the entire Interact Club for a year of service to their school and community!! Many thanks to club sponsor Jessica Hefferan for a successful year, to all of the members who contributed to the breakfast and to Bernie Bandini, who donated the cash awards and certificates for the students.

Members of the Mon-Yough River Valley Rotary Club had the honor of helping to place American flags on the graves of more than 3,500 veterans at Belle Vernon Cemetery Saturday afternoon. Thanks to the many friends and family members who joined us to ensure that no veteran buried at the cemetety was forgotten.

Congratulations to the Charleroi High School Interact Club on the installation of their Peace Pole on the school grounds. May Peace Prevail on Earth in several languages. The rain didn't damper spirits or the message.

So proud of our Interact Club members at Charleroi Area High School who unveiled their Peace Pole on the school grounds Wednesday morning. This group of amazing young people worked tirelessly to make their vision for this tribute to worldwide peace and understanding become a reality. Congratulations to all!!

♻️ Don’t forget to come shred household documents and recycle old electronics at our Shred & E-Recycle Event NEXT WEEKEND! Go to Gahanna.gov and take a look at the list of acceptable items, then meet us in the parking lot at 200 S. Hamilton Rd. from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 9.

As you prepare for your trip, be sure to bring a non-perishable item, toiletries, or monetary donations for our friends at GRIN so you can give back to the planet AND our local community!

What a great day spent with this fine group of dedicated, hard-working and fun Rotarians as we supported the District 7305 Foundation luncheon at LeMont on Mt. Washington. In the short time our club has existed - it was founded a little over a year ago - we have forged friendships, served our communities in so many ways and charted a path forward of "service above self" that makes us all so proud!
