Thank you to Reticle artists Ford Sypher and Peter Meijer for helping to put together a great installation at 3333 Broadway. The response and feedback from the residents has been tremendous and heart warming. We are so proud to have artwork that is literally seen by thousands of people everyday (it's a HUGE building) and have that artwork impact their daily lives. To have that artwork come from two proud veterans who continue to serve their communities makes it and even more special project.

The images help veterans transition to civilian life and expose residents to their work.

Great piece in yesterday's NYPost on Reticle. We have plenty of walls to cover so if you, or a veteran you know is a budding artist looking to get involved... WE NEED YOU for Reticle!

When Army Capt. James Eisenberg began active duty nearly 20 years ago, he took a disposable camera with him wherever he could. The now-41-year-old Greenwich Village resident had a feeling the place...

On behalf of all of us at Urban American, we want to make a special Veterans Day thank you to all veterans of military service. You stood up for us and we pledge to always stand up for you.

On November 16, as part of our proud tradition supporting our veterans and their families, Urban American is proudly sponsoring the Ranger Lead The Way Fund, Inc.'s annual Jimmy's Run Memorial 5k down the Highway of Heroes in NYC and bringing out our team of hard charging runners. Sign up to run with us or come cheer on the runners and support a great cause doing amazing things to support Army Rangers, veterans and the families that support them. Together we can do much.

Urban American is proud to announce the first painter to be selected for Reticle, our veterans art initiative. Sgt. Edward Santos is a former infantry Sergeant in the US Army and served two combat tours in Afghanistan. Mr. Santos began painting during his treatment at the VA and has not stopped painting since. "My paintings represent me." Says Sgt. Santos, "They represent the gratitude. Grateful in knowing, that while I loved my job and was proud of what I stood for as a Soldier, I was always fearful of never coming home, never seeing my family. The images I paint and the bright colors I use represent the beauty of life, which should never be taken for granted. I am a Son, Brother, Father Grandfather, Veteran and Artist!"

We are proud to have three of Edward's works mounted for display in the Urban American Management office on Main Street in Roosevelt Island. Congratulations to Edward for joining the ranks of our Reticle artists.

You can view more of Sgt, Santos's work at http://instagram.com/OILSoncanvasbysantos

Cpl. Gorman's work found a nice home in our Sunnyside buildings. So far the reception from the residents has been incredible. One tenant mailed a very nice thank you card to our office, thanking us for everything we are doing for veterans. It wasn't the plan to get thank you cards, but it felt pretty cool by all. Congratulations Cpl. Gorman, your artwork looks amazing.

"Photography is a really powerful tool to change people’s minds… It’s like a truth gun. If you get the right image, people really can’t turn away from it.” -- Howard G. Buffett, American philanthropist, photographer, and farmer. Said tonight in an interview with Charlie Rose on PBS.
