The Monroe Chamber of Commerce and West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce have announced their support for the renewal of two existing tax measures that help fund the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Ouachita Correctional Center.

After a thorough review process and discussions with Sheriff Marc Mashaw and his leadership team, both Chamber Boards voted to support the renewals, recognizing their role in maintaining public safety, school resource officers, deputy staffing, training, equipment, technology, and correctional operations throughout Ouachita Parish.

Election Day is June 27, 2026, with early voting beginning June 12.

This scholarship-based opportunity gives students entering grades 9–12 a hands-on look at entrepreneurship, business development, marketing, financial basics, leadership, and pitching an idea.
Students will connect with resources from ULM, Louisiana Delta Community College, Louisiana Tech, local entrepreneurs, business owners, and community leaders — all while building confidence in their own ideas and future.
