My dream has become reality.
Since the day we lost Lyla Grace, I knew I wanted to do something in her honor. She was loving, caring, kind, compassionate, and always thinking of others before herself. I could not let that beautiful spirit leave this world without finding a way for it to continue making an impact.
When Lyla Grace was 4 years old, I found myself navigating a lengthy divorce. Money was tight. There were times I had no car, times I worried about food, and many moments when making ends meet felt impossible. Thankfully, her Pawpaw Mikie always made sure we were fed, and our family stepped in whenever they could.
Even during those difficult years, I was determined that Lyla Grace would continue dancing. I worked weekends in snow cone and food trailers, sacrificed where I could, and when I came up short, my mom was always there to help. It truly took a village.
Dance became so much more than an activity. It gave her confidence, friendships, discipline, joy, and a place to shine.
That is why The Lyla Grace Barmore Foundation is honored to offer THREE $800 Dance Scholarships for dancers attending ANY dance studio in North Louisiana.
The scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient’s dance studio and may be used toward tuition, fees, costumes, competition expenses, or other dance-related costs determined by the studio.
These scholarships are not just for families facing financial hardship.
We are also looking for nominations of dancers and families who are always putting others first. The people who quietly serve, help everyone around them, and often believe someone else deserves help more than they do. The dancers whose parents are constantly giving, volunteering, and helping others while never asking for anything themselves. If someone immediately comes to mind while reading this, we want to hear their story.
If you would like to help us continue growing this program and bless even more dance families in the future, donations are always appreciated through The Lyla Grace Barmore Foundation. Email me at [email protected].
My hope is that these scholarships honor Lyla Grace’s heart. She loved people deeply, cared for those around her, and never wanted anyone left out. Whether a family is walking through a difficult season or is simply the kind of family that is always pouring into others, we want to celebrate and bless them.
Thank you for helping us continue Lyla Grace’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and love. Please share this post so we can reach dance families across North Louisiana. 💜
📅 Scholarship applications must be received by July 20, 2026.
Winners will be announced July 24, 2026.
