Makenson and his wife proudly stand beside the motorcycle he purchased with money he diligently saved through his savings group in Haiti.

Motorcycles are a vital means of local transportation in Haiti. With limited car ownership, poor road infrastructure, and mountainous terrain, they provide access where other vehicles cannot. For Makenson and his family, owning a motorcycle opens doors to greater opportunities and essential services. It is not only a practical tool for work but also a blessing for everyday life!

Family Finances Lesson 3--Why and How Should we Give?

We grieve the passing of Roland Devalcy, our beloved program manager in Haiti. Roland faithfully served in leadership with Open Hands from 2011 until the Lord called him home on July 15, 2026.

His gift of leadership and his unwavering dedication left a profound mark on the growth and effectiveness of savings groups throughout Haiti. His impact will continue to be felt in the lives of many.

He will be deeply missed by all of us at Open Hands, yet we hold fast to the hope of seeing him again with the Lord. Our prayers are with his family during this time of sorrow! 🙏

Venezuela has endured years of turmoil—political struggles, economic instability, and, more recently, devastating earthquakes that have deepened the sense of despair many feel. Excessive inflation from these crises has turned market prices into a never‑ending roller‑coaster nightmare.
In such times of need, savings groups are uniting people in community and restoring hope—both spiritually and economically.
