One Paw at a Time Rescue

501c3 Nonprofit animal rescue located on West Milford NJ. Once they arrive, they are vetted and screened for proper placement in foster homes.

As a 501c3 nonprofit organization we pull unwanted or abused dogs from southern shelters and midwest Puppy mills to give them the chance at a better life. We work with numerous city and state shelters along with transport companies to ensure these dogs are safely transported to the NJ / NY area. Dogs are socialized and learn to adapt in home settings with a structured schedule. Once observed by staff for a few days, these dogs are ready for adoption. All applicants are required to fill out an application. Once your application is received we will complete a vet and reference check. If approved, yiu will get a call from a team member to go over the adoption process and to set up a meet n greet. All of the pups are located in Stony Point NY or Butler NJ

On Monday, my team went to a local overcrowded shelter to pull a dog in need

It was an emotional day, as we met so many deserving dogs that would thrive in a foster based rescue. Unfortunately we were only able to pull 1 large dog due to the lack of large dog fosters
( If anyone has room to foster a large breed dog, we can set u up with a great match )

Meet CeCe.... She was completely shut down in her kennel, she was scared and growling at anyone who came close to her. We knew she had to be a One Paw dog. We knew once out of that kennel, she would open up and thrive in our care.
Thats exactly what happened....
CeCe is a 10ish month old Pitbull / Rottweiler mix.
She weighs 50 pounds and is extremely affectionate and playful. She LOVES meeting people and other dogs. This girl is a true LOVE BUG...

CeCe is now vet cleared and ready for adoption

We just brought in additional pups... We are very low on food, treats, and toys. Plus all supplies that go along with fostering puppies

Please donate if u can.

One Paw runs 3 separate foster homes and we go through a tremendous amount of food and treats for these pups. Toys do not last long with these sharp puppy teeth.

All available pups are posted on separate posts

8/8 - Nicolas was ADOPTED...

Lets Welcome Nicolas into the rescue

Nicolas was surrendered to us last week.
He is an 11 month old Golden Doodle
Nicolas is neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped and on flea and tick prevention

We did have to shave him to the skin to relieve him from painful matting. It was the worst matting we have ever dealt with.

Posted below are Before, during and After pics.

Nicolas weighs 20 pounds ( on the thin side, perfect weight would be closer to 25 pounds )

Nicolas is very social with other dogs. He loves meeting every dog around on his walks. He is also great with kids

We were told he has been bounced around to several owners in the past few months. Because of this, he is shy when meeting people ( Cant say I blame that )

Another dog in the home would be a plus, and a family home more than not. He does have some anxiety when left alone for longer periods.

Nicolas is a very happy pup, eager to learn and eager to trust. He must of been so confused going from home to home. We cant fail this pup anymore... Its time for him to feel love and security in a permanent forever home.

Currently fostered in Rockland County NY

8/8 GREAT NEWS... ORACLE WAS ADOPTED

Lets Welcome our Special Needs pup Oracle....
( Some pics are AI generated... So crazy that I have to post that but people will ask if he is really driving a motorcycle )

This guy is AMAZING....
Oracle is the product of breeding double merle parents.

Oracle is a 12 week old male Cockapoo. He has 1 pre mature eye ( very small and under developed ) which has no vision. His other eye has some vision, of course we cant know exactly how much, but he definitely sees out of it.
Oracle has some hearing issues as well. We know he can hear, we just dont know how much

He is such a happy pup, he loves other dogs ( big and small ) and he loves going on adventures.
Dont think of him as special needs, he does everything just like any other pup.

His foster family ADORES him and is so thankful we rescued him.

Oracle weighs 5 pounds. We estimate his full growth weight to be around 20 pounds

He is fostered in Stony Point NY
