In May 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, ultimately raising $27,000 to help the American Cancer Society fight the nation’s biggest health concern – cancer. Since those first steps, the Relay For Life movement has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, raising more than $4 billion to fight cancer.

Just wanted to share some quick updates with you all regarding our Relay For Life of Morgan County 2021 event! With Covid-19 guidelines and social distancing still in place, we do not believe that we can have our full Relay event as we typically would in 2021. Our hope is that we will be able to host a virtual luminaria ceremony to share with you all later on this year! Keep an eye out for more details about that!

We still want to keep up our efforts for Relay For Life! We hope that you will consider still registering your team and fundraising as usual (www.RelayForLife.org/MorganKY). We look forward to all being together in Spring 2022!

Exciting news to share!! This year, we are having a ROUND 2 of our Hope Shirts! If you missed out on the deadline to order the Hope Is Never Cancelled shirts back in June, you can grab those now!

There is also a NEW design that is available in a pink short sleeve shirt and a charcoal gray and pink long sleeve shirt! Cooler days are coming and these shirts are perfect for just that! And those pink shirts will be perfect in October for breast cancer awareness!

This is such an exciting opportunity!!

The American Cancer Society of Kentucky and the American Cancer Society of Indiana have teamed up for a "Mile of Hope" campaign. It's 410 miles from the top of Indiana to the southern border of Kentucky.

Our mission at the American Cancer Society has never been so threatened in our 107 year history as it is now due to COVID-19. We’re in danger of losing a generation of progress in scientific research and a generation of lifesaving progress if we don’t act now.

You may be wondering "What can I do to help?” I would love some of my Relay friends to sponsor one mile by asking 10 of their family, friends, neighbors, co-workers to donate $10 and and get to that $100 by July 13th when we will have a National Day of Hope telethon. You are not being asked to walk or run a mile..this is a virtual mile you are sponsoring.

If are interested in being a "Mile of Hope" participant ..let me know and I am happy to get you started! Who will be our first one to sign up from Morgan County?! 💜💜
