Organized retail theft is spiraling out of control in some American cities, giving retailers no choice but to shut down to protect customers and employees from these increasingly-violent crimes. We don't want to see this happen in Texas. Our Legislature invested heavily in two new programs to fight back this year, including a new investigative unit at the Department of Public Safety and a task force overseen by the Comptroller.
