Making true "mom friends" is so much harder than it looks. Between conflicting nap schedules, zero free time, and just being plain exhausted, finding the energy to build new connections often feels like another chore on the to-do list. We're all craving that village, but sometimes just getting through the day is all we can manage!

Some of our moms were able to make it out to an easy park playdate in April. Everyone got some fresh air and sun on our faces.

Winter magic in West Lafayette. From first-timers to seasoned pros, we spent the morning gliding (and occasionally sliding) into the weekend. Snacks were devoured, gloves were lost and found, and memories were made. Nothing beats a crisp morning with friends and family. ☕️⛸️

Did you know West Lafayette Mom Friends started in 2020 with about 60 moms? We came together to create a new, truly inclusive community after realizing our previous organization wasn't addressing important issues of inequality and racial discrimination. While we cherished the friendships we had, we knew it was vital to build a space where every mom feels welcome and valued.

Service is also a core part of our mission! We love making a positive impact in our community through various projects each year. This includes our annual silent auction for local charities, adopt-a-family for Christmas, Tools for Schools supply drive, a peanut butter drive for Food Finders, and many random acts of kindness.

Today, we're a thriving group of roughly 120 active members! We are open to all individuals who identify as mothers in the West Lafayette area, no matter your religion, age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, marital status, or economic background.

Hey mamas! 👋

It's been a long time, hasn't it? We know this public group has been super quiet for well over a year, and we apologize for the radio silence! Life with littles (and not-so-littles!) can get incredibly busy, and it's easy for things like this to fall by the wayside.

But we're still here , and we want to breathe some new life back into this amazing community! Many of our a members are on our private, members-only group, where we share more personal stories, ask questions, and offer support in a more intimate setting.

Our group has had some fun get togethers recently with the local Maple Sugaring event at Fort Ouitonenon and flying kites at a local playground. Each month we have so many great events for moms and kiddos!

Last Friday was our annual moms only summer party! Mad Mushroom pizza was supplied from MomFriends, and members brought desserts to share. It was a night of bonding, of laughter, and some well deserved time to just be us.

It has now been 3 years since our formation, and we have accomplished so much! This past year, West Lafayette Mom Friends has grown to over 100 members. Every month we have lunches for working moms, toddler playdates for stay at home moms, and weekend events for families. We have online game nights, moms walking dates, work-out lunch dates, and fiber crafting meet ups.

Every year we also have organized service projects, including adopt-a-family over the holidays, a silent auction for a chosen charity, and various drives throughout the year. We also have organised meal trains for members with newborns or any member who is simply in need of a bit more support.

I would say the most important aspect of our group, however, is our private fb page. It is full of open and honest conversations, posts on local events, and the occasional funny meme relating to parenting. We have threads on school advice, potty training, pre-teen angst, and relationships issues. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive and non-judgemental space where our members feel safe to share their concerns and their personal wins.

This past weekend we had a very successful Mom Friend Stuff Swap! Members dropped off used clothes, household items, kids toys, baby items.... anything!! And then we all shopped through everyone's stuff and took "new" things home!!

Anything left over at the end was picked up by the wonderful charity - Open Hearts Clothing Closet. The great mom friends stuff swap will definitely become a reoccuring event (every few months) on our monthly calendar!

What's better than a Friday night out with friends? A Moms Night out laughing and connecting with other Mom Friends! We all had a wonderful few hours break from children, including good food, fun games, and just fantastic company!

Thank you for your interest in West Lafayette Mom Friends!

We are a group of moms striving to provide support and encouragement to one another, enrich the lives of our children, and make a positive impact on our local community. We established this group in 2020 with a group of about 60 moms who chose to leave the local chapter of MOMS Club after we discovered its national governing body was unwilling to acknowledge and confront the problems of inequality and racial discrimination plaguing our country. Because we value our friendships and inclusivity, we have worked hard to create an organization that all of our members are proud to be a part of. We believe that anyone who identifies as a mother should have the chance to be a part of a village and feel supported. While our activities are based in West Lafayette, we welcome moms in the surrounding area who are interested in joining.

We operate through a very active, private page where members can ask questions and share struggles without fear of judgment, as well as chat about being a mom and day to day life. We also have a private Buy, Sell, and Trade page. We create a monthly calendar which includes playdates, kids activities, book clubs, nature walks, family outings, and moms only events. Throughout the year, we also organize and host a few big events for our members and their families, such as a Trunk or Treat, a Spring Egg Hunt, and a summer moms only party. In addition to those in-person activities, we have some online discussions, game nights, and other fun virtual evening events using Zoom.

As a registered non-profit organization in the state of Indiana, service to the community is an important focus of our group. We have a dedicated committee for planning 2-4 service projects each year. This past summer we raised money for the YWCA through a silent auction, and each winter we have an annual tradition of supporting a family in need through gifts at the holidays.

Before joining, we ask all prospective members to attend an event or meet virtually with a board member in order to get to know you a little better and answer any questions you might have. If you decide to join, we ask that you fill out our membership enrollment form and pay a $5 new member fee. All members pay dues of $20, at the beginning of the calendar year, which go towards group events, moms in need, service projects, and fees related to our registered non-profit status.
