Yesterday we made a trip to Walmart for our breakfast at lunch event 🥓 🍳 always thankful for staff that make sure everyone smells what they want to smell, browse what they want to browse, and allow everyone to experience the checkout counter no matter the time crunch. We are not always promised tomorrow so make today count 💙

On Wednesday, we were honored to attend the Coshocton County Board of Developmental Disabilities Luncheon to see our former employee, Keith Doren, posthumously receive the Legacy Award.

Keith worked in the DD field for 40 years, and he spent 20 of those years with us as a QIDP at Lafayette Meadows. He was nominated for this award by Dana Smith, Program Director. His daughters, Ashley and Dani, accepted the award on his behalf.

The Legacy Award is given to someone who dedicated their life and career to making the world a better place for people with developmental disabilities, and Keith's life most certainly exemplified this tenet.

"Keith's 40 years in the developmental disabilities field were defined by compassion, leadership, and an unwavering belief that every person deserves dignity and belonging. He didn't just lead, he worked side by side with others, mentoring staff, supporting individuals and teaching that every behavior is an unmet need waiting to be understood."
-- Steve Oster, Coshocton DD Superintendent

In his daughter's words, "Let's take the time and use the Keith Doren way of thinking to figure out what it is that people need."

Today at the Lafayette Day Hab, we held a bake sale! The residents and staff had a great time baking and preparing desserts for the event. After hearing about the bake sale, multiple staff members volunteered to make and donate additional treats, which helped make the event even more special.

We started with a little over 200 desserts, and by the end of the sale, we had only a few left! The residents were excited to see how well everything turned out and enjoyed being part of the experience.

A big thank you to the staff who volunteered their time to bake and donate treats, as well as everyone who purchased desserts. Your generosity and support are greatly appreciated!
