🌿 What Makes a Garden Truly Sustainable?

What is one thing you've done to make your garden more sustainable?

A sustainable garden isn't just beautiful—it works with nature, not against it.

By choosing water-wise plants, improving soil health, supporting pollinators, and reducing unnecessary inputs, you can create a landscape that thrives through Utah's hot summers and changing seasons while using fewer resources. Sustainable gardening focuses on long-term resilience, healthier plants, and a healthier environment. 🌎🌱

Some simple ways to get started:
✅ Plant native and drought-tolerant plants
✅ Use mulch to conserve moisture
✅ Water deeply and less frequently
✅ Build healthy soil with compost
✅ Welcome beneficial insects and pollinators

The best gardens aren't the ones that need the most work—they're the ones that become stronger and more resilient over time. 🌼🐝

Being waterwise doesn’t mean sacrificing beauty. ✨ This month’s waterwise mood board, Rooted in Resilience, features three unique plants adapted to the Intermountain West that can handle drought and other environmental stressors while still bringing color, texture, and interest to the landscape!

Choosing plants that are well-suited to our region helps create more sustainable landscapes, supports local ecosystems, and can reduce the amount of water and maintenance your yard needs.

This week’s ‘What’s in Bloom’ arrangement is all about proving that a waterwise landscape can be just as generous as any traditional garden. Each stem shows that a low‑water yard can be bursting with color, texture, and pollinator‑friendly goodness!

If you’d like to see how these arrangements come together, join us at our Spring Garden Fair next Saturday, May 30th! 🎉 From 9am-2pm, it’s a full day of expert advice, family fun, and waterwise inspiration!

🌸 Live floral‑arrangement demonstrations will take place at 10:30 am and 1:15 pm—a perfect chance to learn the same foraging and styling techniques we use in these posts, up close!

Swipe through to take a peek at what’s blooming in our waterwise garden right now, and we hope you get the chance to see it person soon!

There’s something really special about late spring in a waterwise garden… the plants are filling in, the pollinators are busy, and the birds are singing their hearts out. ✨

Our staff has been out capturing that magic this week, and we wanted to share a few of our favorite shots: waterwise blooms, native grasses, and the wildlife that’s already making itself at home. Swipe through to see what’s thriving right now!

If you’d like to see it all in person, we’re open Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm! 🌸 And if you want to learn identification and how waterwise landscaping supports local bird populations, join us this Saturday from 7–8 am for a Waterwise Birding Walk. Only a few spots left, so save yours now!
