As a breast cancer survivor, I am always committed to raising awareness about the importance of mammograms and encouraging others to get screened. Yesterday I underwent a mammogram, an experience that consistently fills me with anxiety 😥. I've been told that I'll receive a letter with my results and will be notified of any changes. I am always mindful of being high risk for recurrence, stay focused on my health and always remain positive. I will forever remain rebuking cancer and everything that comes with it. On a positive note, this year marks a significant milestone in my journey, six years since my diagnosis (6 year cancerversary, July) and I'll be having my last surgery on Monday. Finally marking the end of this challenging chapter, God knows I’ve been looking forward to this day. 🙏🏽🙌🏽

World Cancer Day stands as a powerful reminder of the value of resilience and gratitude, recognizing every day as a blessing and a privilege. As I near my sixth anniversary milestone this July, I reflect on the vast knowledge I’ve gained about cancer and personal development. I honor those fighting, surviving, and those who are no longer with us. In 2026, my objective remains to pursue enhanced well-being and self-improvement while supporting and educating others.

I am 13 days post-op. There are things they don’t tell you about when you deal with cancer, there’s a different life after treatments. It’s not all glitz and glamour, b**b jobs, tummy tucks, and looking snatched. It’s the mental and emotional state, the endless tears. It’s the amputation that is done to your body, the numerous amounts of surgeries, the infections, the uncertainties, the risks, the pain, etc. The road to recovery isn’t always easy, it’s a mental journey within itself. You’re trying to find your way back to a life that no longer exists and a version of yourself that no longer exists. Nobody tells you there are stages of grief, just like death, you mourn certain aspects of yourself, your life, and your body. You have bad days, you have good days, you have setbacks, but you have to push through to the comeback in order to see a new version of yourself. I’ve put my body through hell in order to have a “normal” breast/body. All these scars I carry are a badge of honor and survival, I fought for each and every one of these and in order to be here. That’s not including the ones I have on my chest, of course, I can’t show those here. I took so many risks in order to fight and survive cancer, the process is almost over. 🙏🏽🙌🏽

Don't ignore the signs. If you notice any of the warning signs above or other changes in your breast, chest area or ni**le, see a health care provider right away. Men tend to have much less breast tissue than women, and warning signs in men may be easier to notice than warning signs in women.
