🌲❤️ Thank You to all- 16th Annual NAC of Ashiihbiito Youth Conference ❤️🌲
Another beautiful Youth Conference is in the books! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who helped make our 16th Annual Youth Conference possible.
Thank you to all of our youth, students, parents, caretakers, families, elders, and community members who joined us in the mountains. Seeing the smiles, hearing the laughter and cheers, and watching our youth learn, dance, pray, sing, and simply enjoy being together is one of the greatest rewards for all of us. ❤️
🙏🏽 We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who led and supported our traditional ceremonies, offered prayers and songs, cooked, made frybread, presented, volunteered, donated, transported supplies, helped with the tipi, registered families, served meals, set up, and stayed to clean up.
One of the most amazing things to see was how many people simply took the initiative, saw where help was needed, and jumped right in. No task was too big or too small. That kind of generosity, teamwork, and community spirit is what made this gathering so special, and we are truly thankful. ❤️
🪶 Special appreciation to our presenters and cultural contributors, including Alexis Blackmountain for the medicine pouch activity, Tamera John with Native Generations for sharing education and information, and Rhonda Duvall and the Echoing Spirit youth dancers for sharing culture and dance with our youth and families. We appreciate SLCC student Lewneil Hascon for sharing her vision of the youth conference and created the design for our new banner we will continue to use and the tshirt design.
🇺🇸 Thank you to Arnold Lano and everyone who participated in the Posting of the Colors, including Deseray Taylor, a JROTC student, for her help and representation during this meaningful part of our Sunday gathering.
🙏🏽 We also extend our appreciation to DÍne Native American Church of New Mexico Incorporated Lake Valley & White Rock, New Mexico and their officers Anthony Henry, President, and Stephanie Shorty, Secretary, for being part of and supporting our gathering.
❤️ We are deeply grateful to the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake, RiverStyx Foundation, Natsu Health/Warrior Spirit, Restoring Ancestral Winds, CLWraps, U.S. Forest Service, our exhibitors, private donors, cooks, Tristan Blackmountian, volunteers, ceremony leaders Buzzy Covers Up and Daniel Jones with their support, and all of our community supporters.
🐻🌲 Thank you to the U.S. Forest Service for working with us to gather safely in the mountains and for bringing Smokey Bear to spend time with our youth and share the importance of caring for the land.
We also want to recognize and thank the Ashiihbiito Board of Directors and officers for the planning, coordination, time, prayers, and work that happens before, during, and after the conference to keep this gathering going year after year.
🌲 Sixteen years of gathering for our youth is something we could never do alone. It takes community. Thank you to everyone who showed up to pray, sing, teach, cook, donate, volunteer, encourage, laugh, visit, and simply spend good time with our youth and families.
May the prayers, songs, teachings, laughter, friendships, renewed kinship, and good memories from this weekend continue to carry our youth and families forward in a good way.
❤️🙏🏽 Ahéhee’ to each and every one of you. Until next year same time! 🌲 The Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake NATSU Healthcare
