☀️ Sunday sillies with tiny paws, big adventures, and zero personal space. 🐾😹

These kittens have spent the day chasing toys, wrestling their siblings, practicing their zoomies, and being adorable little chaos gremlins.

The best part? Every one of them is getting the chance to grow up safe, loved, and cared for because of our incredible foster families and supporters.

Kitten season is in full swing, and we could use your help!

🐱 Become a foster, for cats or dogs, and help save lives right from your spare room.

💙 Make a donation to help provide food, vaccines, and medical care for foster pets just like these.

Because behind every cute kitten video is a village of people making sure they get the happy ending they deserve.

Where are our experienced cat people with no cats? ❤️

We are looking for foster homes for Penelope and Maggie as we work to better understand what environment helps each of them thrive.

Both girls are currently living in foster homes with other cats, and we’d love the opportunity to see how they do in a quieter environment where they can be the center of attention. This will help us learn more about their personalities and find the best possible forever homes for them.

Penelope and Maggie do NOT need to be fostered together. We are looking for two separate foster homes.

We’re looking for:
🐱 Experienced cat people
🐱 No other cats (ideally no pets)
🐱 No small children
🐱 A little patience while they decompress and settle in

The goal is simple: learn more about their personalities so we can find each of them the right forever home.

Think you might be the person Penelope or Maggie need? We’d love to talk with you. Complete our foster application here 👉🏻https://form.jotform.com/250826825168060

We absolutely love partnerships like this. ❤️

Pet Care Clinic of the High Country has helped save and care for so many kittens through their foster program, and now two of their longtime foster residents are looking for families of their own.

Kermit and Fiona are wonderful cats who have patiently waited for their turn. If you’ve been thinking about adding a feline companion to your family, we hope you’ll consider meeting them.

Can’t adopt? A share can make all the difference. Let’s help these sweet black cats find their happily ever after. 🖤🐾

Magdalena is looking for a new adventure partner! ❤️

This gorgeous 2½-year-old Husky has the kind of striking looks that turn heads everywhere she goes, with one blue eye and one golden-brown eye. Her family says her best qualities are her loving personality and enthusiasm for being with her people.

Magdalena is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, house-trained, leash-trained, and rides well in the car. She loves walks, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family. She’s friendly with children and gets along well with other dogs, though her playful Husky energy may be a bit much for smaller or more timid pups. She has not been around cats.

Her owners are hoping to find a home that can give her the exercise, activity, and attention she deserves.

If you think Magdalena might be the perfect addition to your family, please reach out directly to her owners:

📱 Jim Husum: 713-409-0358

Please note: Magdalena is not available through Ashe Humane Society. We are simply sharing her information as a courtesy to help her find a wonderful home.

🐾 Please Ask for Help Before You Give Up 🐾

Recently, we’ve seen heartbreaking situations involving kittens that were abandoned in our community.

We understand that sometimes people find themselves caring for animals they did not expect, cannot afford, or simply are not able to keep. When that happens, it can feel overwhelming. But please know this:

There is always a better option than abandonment.

If you find yourself caring for kittens or other animals you cannot keep, please reach out for help before making a desperate decision. Animal Control, local rescues, and other community resources may be able to provide guidance, assistance, or help you explore available options.

While every organization has limitations and may not always be able to provide immediate placement, there are people in this community who care and want to help.

We may not always have an immediate solution, but we would much rather have a conversation and help you explore options than see animals abandoned or left in unsafe situations.

A phone call, email, or message can make all the difference.

🐾 Prevention saves lives. Spaying and neutering pets helps prevent unwanted litters and reduces the number of animals entering shelters and rescues.

When we talk about rescue, people often think of fosters and volunteers. But sometimes changing an animal’s life takes an entire community showing up in different ways.

Recently, Natasha & Nikki visited a property to vaccinate and deworm a litter of puppies headed to rescue transport. While there, they met Harley, a sweet dog who was living tied to a tree.

What happened next is a perfect example of what can happen when a community comes together.

Today, Harley has a secure kennel and a large dog house that will help keep her safe, comfortable, and warm thanks to the kindness and generosity of many people.

❤️Tammy made the initial contact and secured permission for us to help.

❤️ Nikki and Natasha vaccinated and dewormed the puppies and identified Harley’s need for assistance.

❤️ Janet coordinated spay appointments for Harley and MJ.

❤️ Noel donated the fencing materials, dog house, and gave a monetary donation toward the project.

❤️ Daniel helped coordinate donation logistics.

❤️ Chris disassembled the fence and helped transport the dog house.

❤️ Danny hauled the fencing materials using a 22-foot trailer.

❤️ David and his construction crew helped load the approximately 300-pound dog house.

❤️ Karen and Matt from K&M Detailing spent gave their time reassembling the fence and getting everything securely in place.

❤️ Natasha coordinated the efforts from start to finish.

Because of all of these people, Harley’s world looks a little different today.

This is what rescue really looks like. Not one person. Not one donation. Not one volunteer. It’s neighbors helping neighbors, businesses giving back, donors providing resources, and compassionate people stepping up when an animal needs them.

Whether you donate, volunteer, foster, transport, lend equipment, or share our posts, you are part of the village that makes stories like Harley’s possible.

Partnerships Like This Make Rescue Possible 🐾

We’re incredibly grateful for our partnership with the team at Pet Care Clinic of the High Country. Their staff plays a vital role in helping us care for many of the cats and dogs that come through Ashe County Animal Control and into rescue, providing compassionate care every step of the way.

Rescue is a team effort, and we’re fortunate to work alongside veterinary professionals who care as deeply about these animals as we do.

Pictured here is Veterinary Assistant Sydney, who is no stranger to having her hands full with rescue kittens! Like the entire PCC team, she brings kindness, patience, and dedication to every animal she helps.

To Sydney and all of the staff at Pet Care Clinic of the High Country, thank you for being such valued partners in our mission. ❤️🐾

❤️ Want to help? Veterinary care is one of our largest expenses, and every donation helps provide exams, vaccines, testing, medications, and treatment for animals in need.

Sometimes, a bond forms that was simply meant to be. 💕

When Juno first came into foster care, she was given a safe place to land, time to decompress, and someone to love her while she waited for her forever home. But somewhere along the way, “temporary” turned into something much more special.

While most foster journeys end with a goodbye and a happy adoption day, every now and then a connection comes along that’s impossible to ignore, and that’s exactly what happened with Juno. Her foster family fell completely in love, and honestly we can see why. ✨

Fostering saves lives because it gives animals the chance to heal, grow, and be loved in a home environment. And although foster “fails” are not the goal, they are sometimes a beautiful reminder of just how powerful that love can be.

Congratulations to Juno and her now-official forever family. 🏡🐾

Full bellies = full hearts. 🐾❤️

Right now, one of our biggest needs is large bags of dry cat food, along with canned kitten food. Between the cats and kittens in foster care and the pets we help support through our community assistance program, we have a lot of hungry mouths depending on us every single day.

A big bag of food may seem simple, but to us, it means full foster rooms, less stress for struggling families, and the ability to continue stepping up when animals need help.
