Our hearts are with the Northwestern community as they mourn this week’s tragic Clark County school bus accident. The WJYAA Roughriders send our deepest condolences to all members of the Little Mad River Valley League who are grieving and healing during this time.

This Saturday we were scheduled to host the Northwestern flag football team for our season opener and understandably, that matchup has been cancelled. Please look for an update soon from the football commissioner and your flag coaches about the new arrangements for Saturday’s game.

Please join us this Saturday at Converse Park as the WJYAA plans to honor the Northwestern community with the following:
-Blue ribbon and heart helmet stickers worn by all of our football players.
-Blue and red hair bows worn by our cheerleaders.
-Coaches and fans are encouraged to wear blue and red instead of brown and gold.
-A large banner will be available and we are asking all of our WJYAA friends, families and athletes (regardless of sport), to sign with their condolences. We will then be sending to Northwestern as a show of support.

A successful first Riders Soccer Camp is in the books. A special thank you to Brooke Carnevale for organizing everything and the WJ varsity players for their attention and direction throughout. It’s always fun to see the kids that came up through the program encouraging the next generation. Go Riders!
