🏀💛🤎 Please join us in welcoming Lauren Wheeler as WJYAA’s new Youth Basketball Commissioner!

A West Jefferson alum and mom of three, Lauren and her husband, Patrick, have been dedicated WJYAA coaches for the past several years. We’re thrilled to see her take on this next chapter and continue making a positive impact on our young athletes!

👏 A HUGE thank you to Curt Thompson for his incredible leadership and dedication as our Youth Basketball Commissioner over the past SIX years! We’re grateful that Curt will help mentor Lauren through this transition, and especially excited to have him continue coaching in both our youth and high school programs. The Thompson family has had a massive impact on youth basketball in WJ and leave a strong foundation for us to continue building on.

Our youth sports programs are only possible because of volunteers like Lauren and Curt, who give their time, talents and energy to support our kids and community.

Help us welcome Lauren and thank Curt for six amazing years! 🏀🤎💛

At the end of a very long day, our tired feet are temporary—but the memories we made for these kids will last much longer. 📣✨

The 2026 Youth OHC Cheer Competition would not have been possible without the incredible people who stepped up to help. To every volunteer, parent, coach, sponsor, team, family, and fan who gave their time, energy, and support—THANK YOU! And congratulations to every cheerleader who took the floor today, we loved seeing you SHINE!✨

We’re completely exhausted, but our hearts are full. Days like today are a reminder of what can happen when a community comes together for its kids. We couldn’t be more grateful for everyone who helped make today something these athletes can be proud of and remember. 🤎💛
