We need more Ashe County residents and workers living in Ashe County. Ashe Post & Times recently reported, "Ashe County Tax Administrator Chris Lambert said his office sends 51% of local property tax bills outside the county."

Our mission is to get Ashe County residents and workers into Ashe County Homes!

Housing costs are climbing fast, making it harder for everyday working families to stay rooted right here in Ashe County. But instead of waiting around, local folks are stepping up to build real, lasting solutions.

In a recent episode of 580 WKSK's Farm Friends podcast, Samantha and Ashley chatted with Graham about how we are working to keep homeownership attainable for generations to come.

"Prices of housing are quickly outpacing the income of hard working people. And so this is a solution... that we wanted to provide Ashe County." -Sam Lafferty

"Ashe County is so unique... in how many people really, truly care about their neighbors here and show that by doing volunteer work or being involved in community organizations." -Ash Moretz Elks

Making our debut at Christmas in July Festival on our country's 250th anniversary is something special!

We will be there only on the 4th, so we hope you can stop by with the kids to see our puppet show, chitchat, and maybe even get in on our raffle. You might see Ashley Moretz-Elks, Toby Hiseley, Allyson Terry Schoenlein, Yozette Yogi Vlahos Collins, or others there.

Thanks to 580 WKSK and Graham Caddell for hosting the board of Ashe CLT today to talk about our mission. This isn't the entire chat, but you'll get to learn more after we join their podcast sometime in July likely!

Kudos to Brian Lafferty for capturing a bit of this conversation!

Don't forget to come out on our country's 250th anniversary at Christmas in July Festival to say hi and enjoy the festivities.

We may be past our inaugural event, but that doesn't mean we are done being out and about! Just this past Thursday, our board members presented in-depth information to both Jefferson Odd Fellows Lodge #38 and Democratic Women of Ashe. On Tuesday, we'll be joining the 580 WKSK Happy Time Show, and of course, we'll be set up for you to visit us on the Saturday of the Christmas in July Festival. Come say hello to the volunteers of our fledgling, but passionate group!

The Ashe Post & Times article (link in comments) summed up the dedication and enthusiasm our first volunteers put into last week's Inaugural Benefit.

"'This event was organized by volunteers who took their preparation tasks to heart,” said ACLT President Samantha Lafferty. “From planning workshops, materials prep, promotion, sponsorship, and silent auction donations requests, to CLT 101 training, and everything in between, our volunteers really came together to make this amazing event possible.'”

For more details, such as how much we raised, make sure you log in to your membership portal, where we will post our latest board minutes in the next few days. If you haven't signed up to be a Founding 100 Member, there's still time!
