West hazleton Neighborhood Crime Watch met tonight and had a very good meeting. We welcomed a few members from a few different Crime Watch groups in Hazleton. Sadly they express a disturbing problem in Hazleton. The unwillingness of being recognized as an assett to city government and Police dept.
I believe that the people of City Hall in Hazleton should recognize the advantage of Crime Watch groups not only being a benefit to the police as their eyes and ears. But can be a huge support to other departments such as public works, code enforcment etc. Hazleton there are people in your community that want to do good, a little assist would do a world of good!!!!

West Hazleton Neighborhood Crime Watch is progressing as an very active organization within our boro, recently able to reach out and support our Police and Fire Departments. We are currently making plans for our National Night Out on August 7, 2012. Some new ideas for this year include asking organizations to come and become a part of this growing celabration against crime and promoting community spirit and pride. Also beginning planning for our annual Chug-A-Lug run and walk to be held in August.
For our meetings for June 18 and July 16, we have a speaker from the Attorney General's office Bureau of Education and Outreach in to speak on Crime Prevention and Identity Theft .
Our meeting are held on the third Monday of every month at 6pm, all are invited and new members are always welcome!!

Our meeting of February 20 was quite successful with 30+ people in attendance. We had Magustrate Dixon as a Guest Speaker to bring those in attendance up to date in changes that have taken p[lace in the Magistrates Office as well as informing us to what types of crimes are on the increase in our area and what to keep an eye out for. We also launched a new communication program within our Crime Watch that allows the Coordinator to communicate instantly with all members simultaneously via a single Text Messsage. We hope this is a huge assett to our organization as well as our Police Department, and the citizens of our borough. Trying hard to work within our Theme of " Becoming Part of The Solution".
We meet again on Monday March 19, 2012 @ 6pm . Anyone interested in attending is welcome, and we cordially invite new members and new ideas!

Coming Monday, February 20 @ 6:00 pm West Hazleton Neighborhood Crime Watch would like to invite all interested citizens, as well as people in surrounding areas who have interest in forming a Crime Watch in their neighborhoods, to hear our guest speaker this month- District Magistrate Jamie Dixon- who will speak on changes to his office as well as recent crime trends in our area! We all know and complain of the problems in our communities, by being educated in protecting yourself and learning to look out for your neighbors, which we at Crime Watch try to help with; WE CAN START TO BECOME A HUGE PART OF THE SOLUTION!!!
