Dear friends,
Join me tomorrow and learn to love amidst division and strife. If not tomorrow, then when? If not you, then who?
This is how it is done. Sunday at noon, we will ask ourselves:
Will we love the captives, those in prison, and those in detention? Will we love the guards paid to catch and hold them? Stop Solitary CT has some thoughts, and so does the ACLU. And you will join the conversation.
“How might we feed the hungry?” nOURish Bridgeport will share some ideas and lead us in making sandwiches for the hungry. I’m sure they would love to hear your thoughts on their hydroponic garden for the food desert. And what is that Purple Pantry Box in front of that church? Come find out.
Need a break? Paint the peace mural, rest and reflect. Have some pizza.
Swing the hammer and pound surrendered gun parts into jewelry. Ask yourself: who surrendered this gun? What was their story? Swords to Plowshares will lead the discussion.
The housing shortage? Beth-El Center and Columbus House are constantly rethinking and growing their programs as they wrestle with the problem of how we Love and engage the unhoused. Join them in dialogue and build blessing bags for the poor.
Clean the beach with Save the Sound and talk with one another about the environment. What can we do to help out our refugees and immigrants? IRIS will help with answers.
Hear the Blue Steel Drum Line and close the afternoon with a brief reflection from Dr. Elias Farah, the new executive director of Jerusalem Peacebuilders. Why has Dr. Elias embarked on a new career as an interfaith peacebuilder in the Holy Land? Come find out.
The day is short: arrive at 11:45, park, get some food, and join us.
Bruce
