Helping Malawi Farmers in Chikwawa District dig wells and develop a market for farm goods

12/06/2018

Christmas 2018 Meeting the Challenge
Malawi Farmers Inc. is pleased to announce that the Military Whist fundraiser on November 30, at St Augustine Church Hall, North Branford was a social and financial success. Not only did we earn recognition in the minds and hearts of those who attended but we increased the needed perception of our group.
Our aim as a tax exempt charitable organization is to assist Malawi villagers move from subsistence farming production to entrepreneurial farming in local markets. This movement is dependent on many factors.
The first factor is providing villagers with clean water wells to hydrate families, animals and gardens. We opened three deep water wells this past Spring in Chokani village, in the Chikwawa area.
This effort was a boon to family health, changing the pattern of family life by making it easier to obtain clean water which lowered water-borne disease among children and adults.
Our next challenge is to get water wells closer to arable areas where farming takes place. Irrigation is a must to succeed.
Our goal is to dig at least two more deep water wells close to the planted crops so their harvest can increase.
You can assist us by gifting us in memory of someone or in honor of someone at our new address: Malawi Farmers Inc., 591 Savin Ave. West Haven CT 06516 or on our website: malawifarmersinc.org. We will send you a gift card to send to the family or individual. (SEE THE FORM ON PAGE 2). ________________________________
Our board members are grateful to you. Officers and Board Members - President Sam Powell, Secretary Joseph Mazurek, Treasurer Richard DePoto, Chaplain Fr. Austin Phiri, Patti GaNun, Br. Lawrence Lussier CSC, Br. Joseph Walsh CSC. __________________________
