Hartford Men In Harmony would like to celebrate our upcoming show with a spotlight on Rick Anderson—a resident of Simsbury and a well-known performer on the theatrical stage with a secret sideline as a barbershop singer in this historic, award-winning barbershop choir. Rick says: At my first barbershop introduction, my youthful voice hadn't yet changed, but I still wanted to be a bass. Over the years, I did some theatre singing, but musicals go for the higher voices. So, 50 years after my first barbershop experience, I found Hartford Men in Harmony, and they let me sing bass in music that I just love… it's an art form where the harmony rewards a bass with 30% of the attention. Couldn't be happier! Come join Rick as he welcomes world-class guest barbershop artists Greenlight Quartet, Saffron Quartet, and the famous local chapter of Sweet Adelines International: The Farmington Valley Chorus. Don't miss this annual show on November 18th, 7:30 pm, at Sedgwick Middle School's glamorous vintage stage. Be sure to sign up for the Afterglow Party to meet your favorite singing stars and hear them sing up close and personal while enjoying delicious refreshments. Tix available now!

Meet Sebastian Massa, the director of Hartford Men in Harmony and vocalist with Greenlight Quartet, both groups that will be showcasing their talents at the upcoming Concert this November 18, "I'm Beginning to See the Light" at 7:30 pm Sedgwick Middle School West Hartford. Sebastian discovered the Hartford Men in Harmony back in 2006 when Chorus members passed out free tickets for the annual show to his local high school music department! Three years later, in 2009, he formed a quartet and joined the Chorus. From that point on, he never looked back! Since then, Sebby has performed in too many quartets to count, sung on the International stage, won a District championship, and now directs the HMIH Chorus. What motivates him? He says it is all because he loves the sound of barbershop so much and loves the people who sing it, especially the guys on stage that he directs as well as his Greenlight Quartet. Hartford Men in Harmony thanks Sebastian for his great leadership and dedication! Come see him sing in both groups this Nov 18th. See the poster for more info or click on this link for tickets:

Meet Barbershop singer John O’Dierna! He began singing at a very young age... but guess what was his accompaniment? The vacuum cleaner! He said he used to try and match the tone of the vacuum motor when his mom was working around the house. This led to ambitiously aiming to match the voices of the lead singers in his favorite bands as he grew up. His friends would encourage him to sing, and it made him feel good to be able to share his God-given talent. John loves songs with harmony that ring out, and Barbershop music fits this perfectly. Although John claims he hasn’t been singing barbershop music for very long, he’s so glad to have found this great group of fellows and to be a part of the Hartford Men in Harmony.

You don’t want to miss seeing John perform live with Hartford Men In Harmony as they welcome world-class guest barbershop artists, including the local chapter of the Sweet Adelines: The Farmington Valley Chorus. Don't be late to get your tickets to this annual show on November 18th, 7:30 pm, at Sedgwick Middle School’s glamorous vintage stage. Be sure to sign up for the Afterglow Party to meet your favorite singing stars and hear them croon all over again up close and personal while enjoying delicious refreshments. Tix available now!

Spotlight on Hartford Men in Harmony’s Dale Gustafson:

Dale Gustafson is one of our very active members of Hartford Men in Harmony. He is a retired Lutheran clergyman who has served congregations in Burlington, VT, Hartford, and Manchester, CT, for 21 years. Born in Modesto, CA, Dale spent most of his formative years in St. Peter, Minnesota. Dale says he has taken the “go west young man” idea and reversed it to “go east young man, go east.”

Dale became interested in the barbershop genre in high school after hearing the Buffalo Bills singing in Music Man. He could not formally get involved with Barbershop until about 7 years ago when he joined HMIH at the age of 77! Dale currently works as a volunteer with 3 not-for-profit organizations, one local, one regional in CT, and one global (Africa and U.S.) Dale says, “Life is good when one is busy, especially when others can be served.”

Dale raised his adored family in CT, and later, when his beloved wife unexpectedly became ill with stage 4 cancer, he spent six years as her caregiver until her passing. You can currently find Dale pounding the pavement, heading up publicity for his Barbershop group, making connections, passing out flyers and posters, and calling organizations that would love to come see the shows. See Dale and the barbershop show “I’m Beginning to See the Light.” Hartford Men in Harmony perform and host this dazzling show featuring all their barbershop guest stars this November 18, 2023, at Sedgwick Middle School’s vintage stage in West Hartford at 7:30 pm.

Come see Tim Perkins sing Barbershop with his wonderful cast of characters on the risers.
Everyone’s path to Barbershop is different! In Tim’s case, he was very young when his father would come home after he’d been out with friends singing. Tim got pulled out of bed enthusiastically by his dad, who made him sing, so as a consequence, he fell in love with barbershop right then and there. Tim’s no stranger to the Barbershop world; it seems like he’s been sharing his beautiful harmonies forever. Married for 43 years to his beloved Caroline, Timothy raised two kids in Bristol, CT. He’s been singing in this barbershop chapter for 40 years, clocking in as the longest member!💈

Come see Tim perform live with Hartford Men In Harmony as they welcome world-class guest barbershop artists. Don't miss this annual show on November 18th, 7:30 pm, at Sedgwick Middle School’s glamorous vintage stage. Be sure to sign up for the Afterglow Party to meet your favorite singing stars
